I'm still in the process of building the 2022 F350 (diesel) Tremor I'm going to order. I'm looking for advice on what I need to pick (in the configuration tool) to insure that I get the most possible towing capacity out of the vehicle I build? Also, is there a disadvantage to getting either the KR or the Platinum package, in regards to towing capacity?

I know that there are all sorts of variables that go into how much you can tow (I did read the pinned articles) but I'm wondering if someone could give me a rough/ballpark idea of what sort of tongue weight and GVW (trailer) I could handle with a 2022 F350 Tremor that's configured to get the most capacity? We're looking at RVs at the same time and sort of looking at it as a package deal. So, if I knew a rough estimate of the MAX weights, I would know what trailers are a possibility and which ones are simply too big and heavy for us to look at. My wife is going to want the most features and room I can get her so that means I'll be pushing towards the upper weight limit - especially if I want to have room for my hunting gear! Lol! FWIW - we're looking at both bumper pulls and Gooseneck campers. A 5th wheel hitch is possible but definitely NOT preferred as I do operate a ranch and outfitting business and having a gooseneck setup is FAR more practical for me; and I really like being able to easily turn my bed back into a standard utility bed, rather than having that 200lb 5th wheel hitch in the bed.

Any advice you have would sure be appreciated! 🙏

IIRC, your payload capacity will be in the 2500-4000# range depending on your trim/build/engine.

KR/Platinum have the most options so therefore lower payload capacities than XLT/Lariat.

Reduce your expected payload by your passengers/cargo and what’s leftover is your max tongue/pin weight.

If you post your Tremor build here, someone with a similar build can share their stickered payload capacity.

My Platinum diesel 350 payload sticker says 3191.

^ This.

The heavier the truck, the less the payload. Payload is usually the limiting factor for trailer weights, particularly when carrying a full load of people. Thus, the truck with the highest towing capacity will be the lightest (least optioned) truck.

Another consideration is, if the trailers you want are bumping up against the truck's rated towing limit, whether you need the Tremor package. The Tremor package limits the tow rating on the truck, and a longer wheelbase (i.e. 8 foot bed) will inherently be a more stable towing platform, which you cannot get with the Tremor package.

So when you say "maximum", how much do you really want the maximum vs just a reasonably large amount? :)

My lariat ultimate would have around 3300 lbs of payload if it had come with the factory gooseneck prep package. If you’re trying to find a way to make a fifth wheel work without the cumbersome hitch you may want to take a look at the Reese goosebox, it converts the fifth wheel pin box to a gooseneck but still keeps the frame warranty on the Rv. If you go that route I’d also opt to get a B&W turnover ball that way you can get an offset ball and give yourself more clearance on turns between the Rv and your cab. You can’t use an offset ball with the factory prep package since the ball would just spin in place. if I were to do it again this is what I’d do.
