I plan on ordering a 21 F-250 Tremor in near future. However, my wife does NOT like stepping up so high. How much lower are the power running boards? Or, is there a "clamp-on" step or bar that could be attached to the stock Tremor running boards? I really don't want the expense of something like the AMP power running boards.

Thanks!

Bill

Hey Brother. My wife is 5'4" and had broken her Femur in 2017 and has a 2' rod through her bone. She doesn't ride her Softail Harley anymore because shes hampered with pain and is a bit handicapped from that accident.
But we test drove a 2020 F250 Lariat Tremor and a F350 FX4 Platinum. She was worried about getting in to these trucks. There's a handle to pull yourself up as you step into. She didn"t have a problem with the step board that doesn't deploy. She LOVED THE TREMOR.
I was gettin it either way but she liked the Tremor over the Raptor we test drove also. She felt the Raptor was to bouncy of a ride. She said go order a Tremor I'm on board with it.
So go test a ride a Tremor or atleast a FX4 F250 with your woman and see for yourself. I did just ordered a 2021 F350 Platinum that has the awsome deployable step boards and killer seats and Interior.
Go check out my post called "I changed my order form F250 to a F350 and added X Pricing"
I show my order form and it shows the crazy fucking prices for every option i got which is MSRP. Also you can see the X Pricing Plus A/Z and D Pricing. You tell the slaesman you want to pay invoice pricing and go to another dealer and tell him i have an offer of 1,000$ below invoice and snag that great deal my man. I wish i could have gotten a better price but I'm FUCKING SO STOKED ABOUT MY BUILD. Dont wiat to long and get it so late BUT DO YOUR RESEARCH.
Good Luck my brother :)

I would be interested if there is a clamp-on step for passengers ...

There is and someone posted a pic of it. I'll search for it and show it right here. But i personally thought it hung low
Im going to take my Rig and hit some trails eventually and do some off roading. I live on Long Island NY and its full of beaches and very flat. I need to get to get off the Island and go up state to check out what my truck can do when it comes in.

It’s under the post New Tremor Owner
And the dudes title WA-Tremor from Washington State. Go check it out my man.

Ask WA-Tremor to measure his lowered passenger step. And then see what Wigs power deployable one is. It might be the same. Good luck. The men on this site are fantastic.

Bill,

We have a 7.3L Tremor - Lariat Ultimate - Power running boards
The boards are great! I really like how they tuck in nice & high & out of the way for offroading.

My wife is 5'5" and we knew that we needed the power running boards from the beginning.
When we boondock with our 4 wheel camper we have rubbermaid boxes with our extra food, truck gear, clothing, etc. in the back seat (seats folded up) - we need to stand on the running boards to get to the boxes and the power boards are perfect.

As another poster noted - the top of the boards measure 16 to 16.5 inches off the ground.
Our old truck was a 6.4L F-250 powerstroke Lariat 2 wheel drive, with the chrome & black fixed running boards. The power boards on the Tremor are probably 3" higher than those on our old truck.

We upgraded to the Lariat Ultimate package to be able to add the power boards - the build system would not let me (or my salesman) add the boards without the Ultimate package.
Our salesman priced out Amp running boards to be added at the dealership if we did not get the Ultimate package - and the price difference was only about $ 600 more to get the full Ultimate package with the Ford power boards. Adding the Ultimate package will also let you add the LED headlights if you want them.

But - I have seen several window stickers for Tremors on dealer lots with power running boards and navigation but without the full Lariat Ultimate package.

On other threads I have also seen that you have to have the center console (not the bench seat) to get the wiring harness routing for the running boards.

Austin, huh? :)

I opted for the power running boards on my Tremor. They are most definitely way lower than the fixed point Tremor ones. I measured mine for you and they are precisely 16-3/4” off the ground. Hope this helps!
That is great information, thanks! I will check with WA-Tremor and see if he can tell me the height to his step which bolted on the underside of the running board.

I'm in the same boat on lower steps now , has anyone switched the brackets on the oem tremor steps ? Is it due able ?

You can do this after delivery. I think the pair was like $140. My wife has a bad back and bad knee and this makes it possible for her to get in. I put one on each side and I am considering 2 more for the back doors. I have since turned the bolt heads black to match. Go Rhino is the brand. I had to use spacers the thickness of the running boards to get maximum opening in the step.

I heard the AMP power boards are lower than Fords power boards. My wife is short and has a bad leg snd has no problem getting into our Platinum Tremor with power running boards.

I got a short wife and she struggled a little LOL a lot. I added the step because I liked the look of the tremor steps and didn’t want to replace them. I only did it on the passenger side. Hope this helps brother

I understood that the Ford power step is an AMP with shiny sides, integrated wiring and (controls in touchscreen?). I purchased the plug and play version with bypass switch and Splitter harness for the OBD2. While on AMP’s site I came across something I did not hear of before. They make 2” extensions for the steps. If you go this route the steps will not tuck up as tight but will give your vertically challenged peeps a lower step up height.

$125 is not inexpensive but it may be cheaper than hearing about how high the step is constantly. And several hundred less than the XL version.

In my case adding them on will make it easy for my kids till they grow some. Then remove the extensions in a couple years after they grow some. A couple years later ditch the power steps and put the stockers on assuming I can still step up that high.

I looking at getting the AMP power board to reduce the step as well.

Has anyone tried using the running board brackets from a regular F250?

I did a cursory look on an FX4 and a Tremor at my local dealer and it looks like all the bolt up points are the same. According to my measurements, the FX4 step height at the tread lip was 17.5 inches and the Tremor tread lip was 21.5 inches.

It looked to me like the FX4 brackets would bolt up to the Tremor boards with no problem, and you figure that the brackets would all bolt up to the truck the same.

I'm looking to order a Tremor very soon and while I don't have a problem getting in or out of the truck, the boards being a few inches lower would just make life a little more enjoyable.

I don't know how much those board brackets from the FX4 cost, but I'm going to try and find out.
