My 2024 Planned Trips

With the stone stomper now attached to the truck, rocks should no longer hit the van, potentially rebounding back to hit the tailgate, tail lights or window.

I have to ask. Where did you put all of those fuel cans? It would be a challenge to find space.

They will be mounted right at the front of the tub. I did a trial pack using the spare tyre to take up the space of the 2nd spare when it arrives. The 2 blue containers are water containers that will be empty. If I need to source water where I can’t get the van, I’ll use these containers. Together they hold 50 litres. The rest are tables, chairs, tools and a big container to put all the hoses and things in.

Well packed! Helps to have the truck topper for added space.

It helps with weight distribution having the heavy stuff as far forward as possible. The extra fuel alone weighs about 200kgs. The 2nd spare must weigh close to 50kgs.

Keep it clean.

Keep it clean. Was that Paris or New York City? The first time I say one in Europe I’m like WTF is that. After TP shortages during Covid, it would be nice to have.
Cheers 🍻

When do you leave on your first trip? Look forward to your updates along the way.

The other day i took the opportunity to have the fuel filter changed as part of the vehicle preparation for the trip. With a certain degree of trepidation too, I might add. I was worried about emptying the fuel tank having read the issues others have had. It was all rather anticlimactic. Very little fuel came out-far less than I was expecting.-maybe a cup and a half, it’s hard to say. At the end, it started and ran fine.

My only remaining concern is now the second spare tyre. I ordered and paid for it in December. I was told it would take 2-3 months. Which meant a February or March delivery. Now I’m told maybe late April, which is cutting things a bit fine, as I leave mid May. It’s a special order, as Cooper doesn’t stock this size in Oz. I really don’t want to travel the outback on dirt roads with just one spare tyre, especially when I’m on Goodyear tyres.
