Some of us non-Texans will be making the trek to Texas this weekend for the eclipse happening Monday. As we’re trying to avoid gridlock traffic, my group is sort of shooting for the Killeen area. The general forecast originally started out clear, but has recently progressed to partially cloudy with a chance of rain in the later afternoon. Anybody there got a better feel for the weather patterns along that central line of full eclipse from the border through Dallas, or Killeen specifically? What I’m after is what local forecasters are saying, or if anyone generally local to that area has any insight on any area that might have less cloud cover than any other. Probably wishing on the moon, but thought it was worth a try. 😁

I’m in Houston and plan on driving up that morning. It’s not sounding great weatherwise.

Turns out up here in New England is gonna be the cloud free hotspot

I’m actually flying back across the country just to see it. Going to be directly over my house in upstate NY.

Here in the Dfw area it’s not looking good. Heavy cloud cover with storms Monday night. Hoping for decent size peaks in the clouds at least.

Best weather case I hear for viewing is Syracuse NY.

Haha well lucky me I’m north west of there closer to the center of the path!

If you were in Vegas, you'd see some decent size peaks every night butt...

I hear there are tornadoes forecasted, better stay out of our state 😂😜

Edit- this is sarcasm for the extra traffic that will be in those areas and we don’t want anyone getting comfortable, Texas is full already 😉

Here in central TX the weather forecast still doesn’t look promising. Even using local weatherman (not TV weatherman) I still can’t find much hope. Best case is cloudy here during the eclipse.

Note that I also see that bad weather will be rolling into the area, so watch out that you aren’t actually just thinking about the weather at the time of the eclipse.

My dad is coming in from Utah this weekend for the eclipse. We'll be watching the weather closely and make a call early Monday morning on the area that has the best chance. Leakey, Marble Falls, Lampasas are a few areas that would be ideal.

Good luck to my Texas brothers during this event. We expect to see some pics.

@TRAMPER, you might be in the sweet spot so keep us posted!

And for anyone else in it's path, good luck with the traffic, the crazies and God knows whatever else you might encounter 😎

According to NASA, the next solar eclipse will occur in 2044/45 (shit, I'll be 62 and eligible for Social Security; that's if there's any money left 🤪).

Yah keeping our fingers crossed, headed for Killeen in a few moments. Good luck to all watchers!

I'm in one of the hot spot areas of NY state also. A little outside of Watertown
Eclipse traffic and road construction was a bad combination last Friday afternoon on I81 north near Syracuse while on the way home from Florida vacation.
Forecast in my area now may not be so great for the eclipse.

Thanks brother, will let you know. We have a few people coming up to our house since we’re dead smack in the middle of it all. Hopefully the clouds hold back for the most part.

Maybe some of you guys can get a Tremor shot within the eclipse. May TOTM contest? Just saying...

I am headed north about 1 hour and will be in the full eclipse area for a good period. Should be great!
