Hey folks...first post. Just picked up my 21 Lariat Tremor 6.7 this week. Lots to say, but current question for you all is about the dealers maintenance plan. As always, finance guy did the heavy push on the warranty along with the maintenance plan. The guy was giving such a strong push that I told him he was ruining what up to that point was an enjoyable purchase experience. I’ve never purchased either of these types of things in the past for all the reasons others have stated...but I’ve only found conversation about the extended warranties. Any input on the maintenance plans? Only reason I’m second guessing my decision to not purchase is that this is my first diesel. Cheers.

Welcome to the forum brother. Post up a few pics of your new BEAST! ??
As for the maintenance plan, some owners buy it and others do not. It really boils down to what you are comfortable with spending your benji’s on. I don’t tell a man how to spend his money or to live life.

I did not buy the maintenance plan or the extended warranty. I reeeeeally dislike the high pressure BS from sales folk and just let the guy wheeeze until he heaves..? then say no thanks. ?
The math on the extended warranty just did not add up for me since I have 3/36 plus 100k engine and power train warranty I will use.
Personally I don’t like financing anything additional into any loan regardless of the amount.
So read the owners manual, don’t cut corners on servicing at the right intervals. IMO you were WISE not biting into the high pressure sales pitch and smart to let the sales guy know your experience was beginning to suck. I say your were smart to stick to your guns.

Now read your owners manual, do your services regularly do not cut corners and go enjoy your beast of a truck! ??????

The extended service plans are a good deal if you plan to keep your truck past the 3/36 of your standard warranty. However, it is never a good idea to buy them from the dealer when you buy the truck, unless you have done your research ahead of time.

You can buy a Ford backed ESP/Protect plan from several online Ford dealers for half the price of what your “friendly” neighborhood dealer will charge. It is slightly cheaper to buy one when the truck is less than a year old, but I typically wait until I am nearing the end of the factory warranty. As for the maintenance plan, the online dealers will also sell you the same plan for much cheaper.

I have heard of several folks who have gotten their local Ford dealers to match the online prices, but only if you walk in and have the competitive pricing printed out for them to compare. If they will not match it, just wait and buy it online after you have had more time to consider it. The ESP plans are exactly the same, so do not let them fool you into thinking theirs is somehow better.

You can do a search, there already is several threads on this topic, along with multiple opinions, so do what is best for you and your situation.

I bought the Extended and the Maintenance, cause they work for me, and I am retired. My first job at 16 was working in a full service gas station and so I have had enough hot oil spilled on me, having to deal with disposing of oil and filters, or wrestling big ass tires around. The Premium Mait includes oil and filter, tire rotation, brake pads and linings, spark plugs, shocks/struts' and even wiper blades. I went through Flood Ford for both. Everyone has an opinion on them, for me, extended warranties have worked out, even on my washer dryers and refrigerators. This is especially true when they have a "third repair lemon cause" I got three new fridges from Best Buy over like 8 years because of a Lemon clause. I do highly recommend if you get one, stay with the Ford warranty, my dealer only sold third party, I was not interested in that.

My dealer tried talking me into a third party extended warranty through MBPI or something as suck. Said it was much better than the Ford warranty. I passed on that!

Yeah, mine tried to claim the Ford ESP doesnt pay the Technician. I'm like well someone has to pay em, cause it aint legal for them to work for free! but I knew what he saying was horseshit.

Much appreciate all of the replies and opinions. Feel better about my choice and will definitely research some of the online options. Very helpful fellas.

Try Flood Ford, Anderson and Koch Ford or Lombard Ford as they have very good online prices for purchasing Ford backed ESP/Protect plans.

For my 2018 GT350, Anderson and Koch was $50 cheaper. (8 years, 36,000 miles, no deductible, Premium Care). Their prices vary based on your exact situation, so it is best to check all of them.
