Only thing I can think of is your talking about those huge swarms of may flies.
Our river road is terrible this time of year and if I have to drive out in the evening, I go 10 mph until swarm is done.

Wife just blasts through so I gotta keep the pressure washer hooked up and ready every stinking evening when she gets home.

Try riding a Harley through them. I was covered in Love Bug slime. It was so bad I was having trouble seeing through the shield on my helmet.
