Locking gas cap for 7.3L - interest?

This is an honest question not meant to get anyone riled up but..... What is the actual need for a locking gas/fuel cap....other than an extra step at the pump.??
I've never understood the purpose.
You must be a big fella or never dated the wrong guys ex-gf.

If neither of those are true, where you live and is there anyone hiring nearby?

Not small....🤣

I guess we don't fuck with people's shit like that up here, just north of Boston

lol

It was mainly something that occurred in high school and you really had to mess up
Although nowadays with people vandalizing cars b/c they simply dont like someone else... you can never be too safe.

I'm in the same boat. Why?
I have a problem with looking for solutions to problems that don't exist but locking my fuel filler is not one I have ever thought of.
I guess you missed post #33?

The newbies on the forum missed the ongoing dialog over the years!!

Not sure about your reaction to my reply, this thread is a about 7.3 gas caps after all.
We seem to have gotten onto diesels somehow...but either way opinion stays the same. And it's just that, MY opinion. If someone has the need for one of these then go for it. I was just trying to to understand the need
Don't mind Lunch's facepalms - I just picture him shaking a stick (kidding...he's a good dude)

I've had to repair more tanks that people have drilled holes in, than siphoning or some one tainting the gas tank. Granted meth heads will ALWAYS find a way to ruin your day! Just a fact of life, the harder you make it for some one the more damage gets done. And no one drives my truck but me. especially now with the whipple on it.

Truth. We've got a ton of hippies in my area that buy into the end of the environment nonsense and believe anything bigger than a Prius is blasphemy. I dodge those parts of town like the plague but they're everywhere lately and now they're all pissed off to boot 😂

People suck. Around here it's more vandalism than theft.

Cats are the big thing around here, even had a off duty cop get killed in front of his family as he was walking up to some low lifes stealing his cats. But there was a time when diesel was high a few of my oil field suppliers had their trucks relieved of there fuel by way of a cordless drill.

Following. I used to have them on my 1990 F250 Custom (single cab, extended bed, towing package with dual tanks)...The White Chariot as we called it was literally a "drifting queen"...way too much fun...but I digress...

Would love to have this in a black anodized metal if possible.

I'll take one, in Fire Engine Red for a GAS cap

If i'm being honest.... this statement right here has made me reconsider selling my TailGuard. People might just break in to hit the 'drop tailgate' button since you're blocking them.

There are already devices out there to prevent your tailgate from being lifted (McGuard, Armalock, etc) and once I can get my LG's produced, between those two devices, the issue with someone dropping your tailgate unwanted are mitigated.

I'm not trying to advertise. the point i'm trying to make is that despite what i think... some people may still want that level of protection. They may want that peace of mind and not be concerned with a thief taking an alternate route.

True story though... growing up some kids took bats to some of our neighbors mailboxes. One guy had a Rubbermaid brand one. He said it woke him up the first time they drove by.
He said after the third drive by they stopped and just stole the whole daggum mailbox. He figures they didnt get the desired result with the bat :ROFLMAO:
Some thiefs... you just aint gonna win.

Not new to the forum and still don’t see the need for the locking fuel caps.
In my case, the locking caps are to prevent crazies from putting something in the tanks and causing engine/fuel system damage. They can still cause damage to the tank with a drill or even get gas, but they can't put anything "in" that way. The cap is just another deterrent to idiots.

I've already pointed 👉 out this, nice to see it reinforced.

Despite good intentions, here in South Florida, when a hurricane comes, SOB's will just straight up drill a hole in your tank. They already have no issues directly removing catalytic converters for scrap or tailgates.

Please don't let my position change your course! There is a market for everything and people will line up in force for a good one. You truly seem to care and put forth much thought in your approach. However, be ready for those calls when criminals gonna crim better than you have ever thought. If they would put as much effort in life as they do being a dredge they might even surprise themselves in how innovative they can be at solving problems. Me, Just carry good insurance with a low deductible along with a side arm.
I used to drive my FJ Cruiser around with out doors on it. It got so many stares. I got out of it one day and this older black gentleman started up a conversation about it. Asking all kind of questions, The main one what if someone want to reach in and take something. I walked him around the back where I had proudly displayed a sticker in the words of DR. Ron Paul "Don't steal, the Government hates competition". We then went to the driver side and I asked him what was bolted under my steering wheel? He looked and and said a HOLSTER! I laughed and said where do you think that pistol is? We laughed a bit talked some more and went on our ways. FJ was never relieved of any items while I was out and about.

To me it sounds like all you folks with these kind of issues need to find a better place to hang your hats ... Absolutely mind blowing to me, and I'm only about to 10 from the city
