Hey guys,

was cleaning my truck yesterday AM and noticed an area where it appears my leather is coming apart. What is strange is the pattern of the tears. I’ve attached an image, but do y’all think this is something the factory warranty would cover? I’ve got a hard time believing this would be “wear and tear” on a truck with 3K miles. Thanks!

From your photo, it looks like you have something in your pocket or on your belt that is scratching and nicking the leather. 75% of the nicks seem to have a scratch leading to them. I fear the dealer will point to that to say it is end-user damage, not a warranty issue.

You talking about those tiny scrapes? Those could easily have been from something ripping along there like a button from a jeans or belt.

Do you keep a knife in your back pocket? Just pondering as it looks like a sharp edge repeatedly going over that area!?!?

I wouldn't think it would wear that quickly but if it's sharp enough with enough pressure it looks like it might be the cause!??!

I had the same thing happen to a new dinning set my wife and I bought. There were all these scratches on the chairs and come to find out it was me and my pocket knife tucked into my back pocket.

Keep a knife in my side pocket but just seemed like a strange area. Worth asking them but I’ll just be more careful in the future. I guess this can be treated as a cautionary tale haha. Thanks for the replies, y’all

My wallet keeps fucking up my seats .. it depressing because the leather is softer then my f150 leather that is 8 years old but it's harder ... But have had to change where I put my wallet

I use a Ridge wallet, and keep it in my front pocket.

Yep this is what I use ... Love it

That leather picture looks all too familiar to me. I wear a lot of stuff on my belt, so the leather in all my vehicles gets scratched up pretty good. I don't mind, though. It's just the way of life.

Yep. Just going to have to be more careful in the future. Will let everyone know what the dealer says tomorrow but I have a feeling I damaged it without even realizing

+2 on ridge wallet
I sometimes forget my 12" scale from work in my back pocket
Cringe as i go check my seat
Trying to think...chain wallet, screwdriver, scale, magwell- gun sights depending on how you carry
def not factory defect

My gut says you did this with shit on your belt or whatever, but I suspect the dealer will fix it under warranty.

IF not, take it to a few dealers. You'll eventually find one that won't give a shit and will auth it.
