We're towing SS Miss Calculation to Florida in a few days, so I gave the trailer a once-over. It failed, and I figured it was time to install the trailer TPMS kit that came with the truck.

The kit included a new trailer wiring connector for the bumper, a wiring harness for the trailer, a receiver, and wheel sensors. The harness came with pigtails for a trailer rearview camera and a yaw sensor. I don't need either of those for a boat trailer, so I cut them out of the harness, sealed it back up, and installed it in the frame of the trailer.

There's a dock to store the connector on the trailer. Ford is top:

The Ford harness is routed through the coiled trailer cable:

It even works!:

Pretty stoked to have this, and the only downside is that I can't monitor a spare. The setup allows for two, four, or six wheels, but not odd numbers.

Looks awesome! I installed my cables. Now I just need to get a tire shop to install the sensors inside the wheels.

Never thought of the spare tire, that is a good idea.

Have you used aftermarket TPMS and if so would you recommend this over those. I am thinking of getting one and leaning toward the Ford setup to have one less screen on the dash. Already have a camera on the back of the trailer and don't like the idea of the wired one so would probable cut it off or just wire it up underneath.

I haven't used an aftermarket system. If it isn't integrated, I generally stay away from it.

Awesome share, great looking rig and boat! You could always go with two spares and make it even again. Trailer tires being what they are two spares may be a great idea for a road trip. ? ?

Thanks. My wife picked out the boat, and I picked the truck.

Good idea about the spare spare. I don't think I can make that happen before we leave. I'll save it for the teardown upon return to clean the salt off and scrutinize everything.

what did it cost you at the tire store to have them installed?

I know this is directed at @Smindustries, but I’ll chime in with my experience… I was servicing my axles on my flat bed trailer so I ran the wheels and tires loose down to my local discount tire. Told them I wanted the new tpms sensors put in and to balance the tires once they were done. Got the call to pick them up and to my surprise, freebie! Granted, I bought the current set of tires on that trailer from them. Not sure if that played a part in it.

Btw… nice boat @Smindustries!

I have two spares that I monitor using the system. Definitely happy that I invested in it

im glad you wrote this up. i bought the tpms and camera system and was wondering if i could install that and the yaw sensor stuff all in the one plug
