Just saw this: https://hs-motorsports.com/products/ford-6-7l-lower-fuel-filter-upgrade-kit?variant=39429871960228

Looks pretty sweet and nice; what are people's thoughts on it other than the price?

Looks like the filter may be vulnerable if a rock or some other road debris bounced up at it. Ditto for the lines.
I definitely like that idea. I would definitely like to stop taking apart that stock plastic one. But I won’t be the first to try it at that price.

I know technically someone could cut your brake lines easily, but those fuel lines look really easy to get at. :(

These guys make one for the top filter. Kinda curious what PSI these filters are rated for. The new 6.7 has a lot of fuel pressure.
I had a thread on the BMP upper fuel bowl delete kit with CAT fuel filter. That is a definite upgrade for me eventually, and maybe the CP4 disaster prevention kit.

Has anyone pulled the trigger on the HS lower and upper filters?

Have been really close to buying both and the S&s disaster kit…
I've contacted HSM twice in the past two weeks asking a question about their lower fuel filter upgrade, and.... ZERO response..

@Rjp4419 I would get the BMP upper fuel bowl delete kit instead of the HSM, it looks to be a better design. https://blackmarketperformance.com/...apter-fuel-bowl-delete?variant=40311401119928

I still want the HSM for the lower, but not until they answer my questions.

After looking at some more pics it doesn’t look like the BMP would work with the S&S disaster kit….

I’d run the SPE kit but a crack head runs a better business than them.

Can you explain why it wouldn't work? When I was researching it it didn't seem like there would be a conflict.

I can sorta see the point of the upper filter replacement. Though from what I've read so far, it seems like the majority of the filters that crack/fail haven't been changed regularly like they should be. Given the parts needed to replace the lower filter, I don't think the kit is over priced. This seems like a solution in search of a problem. A pretty damn expensive solution in search of a problem.

This place has the best price I've seen on the Motorcraft fuel filter kit: https://www.dieselfiltersonline.com...0-f550-luberfiner-fuel-filter-kit-fd4625.html

$42.00 and 10 mins of my time every 10k miles. I'm sure that 2 CAT filters are cheaper. I'm not sure that the complete filter change will be that much faster. Then the upfront cost of the conversion kits? Nah. If I start having issues with my upper filter, I'll probably jump on the HS kit.

The OEM upper fuel bowl is prone to stress splitting regardless of change interval, and there has been documented reports of trucks being total losses from fire from aerosolized diesel coming out of the splits. (y)

I'm aware of the reports. Given the number of 6.7s that Ford produces, then the number of people that don't perform any real basic maint. Then taking in consideration the number of trucks that seem to self immolate. I believe the problem is real. I believe the problem is probably over blown. (like a lot of other things...)

Like I said. If I start having issues with the upper filter after following the change interval. I'll swap it out. I still maintain the lower filter replacement is an expensive solution in search of a problem.

And for folks talking about fuel system pressure, the lower filter is low pressure. I'm pretty sure the topside filter is as well. So no, neither of these filters have to withstand 20k PSI.

Yep! Even one fire is too many though in the grand scheme of things.

I have no hard proof…but from these pics and reading the installation instructions seems like the would interfere

Ah, right.. forgot that S&S' new CP4 disaster kit is entirely different from their first and has a filter now. Otherwise it definitely would've worked.

I'm not a fan of the HSM upper fuel filter design really.

I wish I kept the literature, but when I researched into these the cat, wix, and Baldwin all had lower micron filtration vs the motocraft.

With me personally, if I can keep my fuel cleaner and lower the risk of a catastrophic failure….it’s worth it.

Me either. Hate the sock into old housing idea.

might be the only option for me if I run the S&s
