I have decided to get my 2021 Tremor paint ceramic coated. I have an AMB color that is hard to keep looking as it should. I’m getting the paint ceramic coated, a clear bra on the front, and the wheels coated for $2650. I think that’s a fair price given the size of the beast?
Cheers 🍻

I would like to get mine done. I hadn’t thought about doing anything to the wheels.
What does that accomplish? I’m interested.
I’ve not priced the job around me ( Reno would be closest). How long do you anticipate the coat to last?

Coating the wheels make it easier to clean them. I believe most of the ceramic coating last about 3 years plus or minus. My biggest problem is my water is hard and leaves stains/deposits on the paint. I’m going to give it a try….
Cheers 🍻

That’s lower than I would expect (assuming good quality materials/workmanship). How much coverage are you getting with the PPF (clear bra)? Will the installer be doing any paint correction before applying the ceramic coating?

My wife’s X5 was $4850 for level 3 (full coverage on the front bumper, hood, fenders and mirror caps) + rear bumper Xpel PPF, and full ceramic coat with paint correction ($2950 for PPF, $1000 for paint correction, and $900 for the ceramic coating). That was on a brand new car, a 3yr old car with a tricky color like AMB (and probably 2x the size) would probably need more work on paint correction at least.

The clear bra is basically a foot up the hood and forward. They wanted to do the entire front end but that was too expensive. I just really wanted to get the paint correction and coated and that’s what they are focused on. I’ll takes photos but they never do the reality justice.
Cheers 🍻

I didn’t see you’re getting PPF also for that price. That’s pretty cheap.

I have enough bras in the truck but...

Bob Moses quoted me $1,500 for ceramic coating but that doesn't include the tires. They recommend I return one year later to asses the product. I haven't had time to do it yet. They'll need to keep the truck for two days too.

I don’t think you will be happy with that level of coverage. There will be a rather noticeable lip/seam right in your sight line looking at the front of the truck. The adhesive on the film edge will trap dirt too (albeit not as noticeable on a dark color, but it looks grey/black on a white truck).

What brand of film/coating are you going with?

I cheaped out on the PPF coverage. I’m more concerned about the paint at this point. May be short sighted?

I would just be very hesitant using any guy that’s giving you a price over the phone. There’s no way to price out a full paint Correction, plus ceramic coating without seeing the truck. You have no idea how bad the pain is. Does it need a Decon wash? Are there any bad areas that need to be compounded or wet sanded? Can you get away with a one step diminishing abrasive polish? Do you need a two-step? There is a lot of variables to think about.

I brought the truck to the company doing the work a couple weeks ago to review the job and get a firm estimate. This is a slow time of the year so it would likely be more summertime. They were referred by a friend that had his Porsche, Aston Martin, and Audi done there. I walked their shop and it’s 5s.

I was told the paint correction was the biggest time factor for the service. I don't see many vehicles that have significant quality paint work from the factory. Fellas find out real quick how good their Lambo paint is done. 😜 😜 :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Well respected shop near me was running a special when I got my truck. I got a “highway package” of xpel PPF on the full front, mirrors, A pillars, front of roofline and 8” strip along the entire truck plus a 2 year ceramic coat (wheels included) for $2500. Truck needed minimal paint correction though. The 1 and 2 year ceramics were free with the PPF, also could’ve done half off a 5 year.

That is a great deal right there! I had a 5 year ceramic coating done on my '22 when I bought it in December. The paint correction is what truly drives the price up. Even on a brand new truck, it still needs to be stripped and a little attention paid to the paint. Any imperfections will show up once the ceramic coating is done, so it's best to get it done right the first time. Buy once, cry once! I paid $1330 to get my truck done, and the outcome was straight perfection!

I was thinking about getting ceramic coating but heard if you run it through the car wash on a regular basis the coating will not last long. So never made the investment.

I avoid the auto brush car washes. The AMB paint and size of the truck are my reasons.
Cheers 🍻

Yup, touchless only. And I don't really care that much about my trucks being dirty, but when I do wash them it's either by hand or touchless. The brush ones will rip things off of a vehicle in a second 🤣

It’s pointless to spend that much money to take care of your paint and make it look nice, only to ruin the finish by taking it through automated car washes. 1 year of moderate washes and your paint ends up looking like swirl city!

Another good thing about the ceramic coatings though…when it is dirty, it is a lot easier to clean because everything seems to fall away from the paint with a quick spray.

Unfortunately there are no touchless washes in my area and I’m not spending the time to wash by hand. Had my last truck for 15 years with out ceramic and still looked good to me the day I sold it.
