How does the 10,000/9,900 GVWR Package affect payload with the 7.3 gas?

Upgrading from a 1/2 ton to a 3/4 ton truck and wanting to go with the 250 Tremor (specifically the 7.3 gas). I'm looking at ordering exactly what I want, but would like some real world examples of the payload impact of adding the 10,000/9,900 GVWR Package.

For one, it seems that it's always 10,000 and not 9,900, even though Ford's website says the 9,900 is for the F250. All the window stickers of available trucks online that are 250's all say 10,000 if they have the package. So does anyone even have the 9,900 or is it all 10,000?

Secondly, I'm looking at getting a higher trim, like King Ranch / Platinum with all the options. I know this will add more weight, so does anyone have a 7.3 gas 250 tremor WITH / WITHOUT the 10,000/9,900 GVWR Package and have a higher trim / loaded options and wouldn't mind sharing their payload info?

Lastly, what's the 250 gas tremor's GVWR without the 10,000/9,900 GVWR Package? Is it automatically the only other 4x4 option for the gas 250 listed on ford's website (https://media.ford.com/content/dam/...ies-super-duty/2020-Super-Duty-Tech-Specs.pdf) at 10,800lbs?

Thanks!

Great question I registered to ask the exact same thing. I'm putting in an order this week and want to make sure I maximize the pay load sticker on a 7.3 F350 Tremor.

I was hoping if you don't select any package at all you get the highest payload rating, however, wasn't sure if you HAD to choose a package. Been using the NADA price guide and it lists the following payload packages:

11,300 lb
11,500 lb (w/6.7L)
11,500 lb
10,000 lb
11,400 lb

In the Ford literature I've seen reference to a 11,900 package on the 7.3 F350 so confused how the ordering actually goes when doing the build out. I didn't want the dealer to default to 10,000 lb or something crazy. I should be ordering Wednesday this week.

Same here. Was told by a dealer they HAD to choose a GVWR option (10,000) when building out the specs. Bottom line I guess it doesn't matter - isn't the suspension on the Tremor equivalent to the F350 with the highest GVWR?

If I’m not mistaken, when you add the Tremor package to a 250 it will require you to add the heavy duty suspension for a higher GVRW. I’m not sure what that is on a 250. The reasoning behind it is because you lose towing and payload capacity with the tremor setup. If you’re concerned about enough towing go ahead and get a 350, given you don’t live in a shitty state that makes you pay extra for a higher GVRW.

Every Tremor that I have seen (not allot) has had the beefy rear spring pack and helper spring - so seems like above comments makes sense.....

Here's the "sticker" that was laminated and left in my truck (7.3 Liter). Also the stickers on the driver's door area.

Hope that helps...

Awesome, thank you! Yes, that's very helpful! I appreciate the photos! How are you liking the Tremor?

I'm still wondering do you HAVE to choose a GVWR package when ordering or can it be completely left off? I believe I've seen Window Stickers without an extra GVWR package at all which in my mind signifies that the payload sticker would be max for that vehicle configuration and unhindered.

Ok so I finally got the order status paperwork back and it came with the 11,300# GVWR Package. Does this make sense or should I see if they an delete it?

From what I've seen that seems to be the normal GVWR for people's 7.3's without the 10,000# package. I think this gives the most payload capacity for the 7.3. I think the 6.7 powerstroke is 11,500.

That makes sense thanks! That's pretty decent payload anyway with ~ 7,400 lb truck. I'll be happy with that.

According to the brochure the highest payload:
For the 7.3 250 is 10,000 equaling 3470lbs.
For the 7.3 350 is 11,300 equaling 4460lbs.

My order sheet today had 10000# GVWR. I’m curious if this helps with state registration and insurance.

I found this for registration so hopefully the 10000# GVWR referenced on the order keeps it under.
