So I’ve got a 2021 Tremor 6.7 lariat and I would like to be able to leave my truck idling with the a/c on for my dog while I go into eat/shop etc. I’ve tried leaving the keys in it and locking the doors with the door keypad and it still shuts down after 20-30 minutes. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have upfitter switches? Wondering if setting up a switch for a high idle will trick the system and auto shutoff.

My first guess is that the computer times your time in park vs engine idle but who knows.

It wouldn’t have to me a much higher idle than normal but food for thought.

Would need someone with high idle already set up to test it out for ya.

Info from the owner's manual:
The engine idle shutdown idle timer does not start if: • The engine is operating in power take-off mode. • The engine coolant temperature is below 60°F (16°C). • The exhaust emission control device is regenerating.

I have the upfitter switches, may take it to my diesel mechanic and have high idle installed and see if I can get a work around on the computer. You would think high idle would be an option from the factory on the F250/350’s since they are work trucks...

Agreed if anyone has high idle installed, please chime in.

Go into the dash settings under advanced settings and uncheck the auto engine shut off. You have to do it every time if you plan on leaving the truck running. I used to do it in my f-150 all the time. I have not tested it on the diesel Tremor as it has not got hot here yet. However I wouldn’t trust it until you’ve tested it and it runs without shutting off for however long you think you want it to run for.

Also, pretty sure that the engine will go into a high idle by itself after it has been idling for a certain amount of time. I’m pretty sure I read it in the manual and also witnessed when letting the truck idle for probably 30 minutes or more.

One would think. In the end, it’s pretty simple to set it up. The pigtails are up under the passenger side dash that go through the fire wall to the upfitter box.
Not sure how handy you are but there are plenty of videos out there that can walk you through it. Good luck. And would love to hear if you find a way in the end to bypass the shutoff.

Well that’s an easy work around for now. Thanks for the info!

Scout thanks y’all too!

For clarification I was in the truck at the time.
