I had to take my wife to get the Covid infusion treatment this afternoon and I was not going to set there with out the ac in in the Texas heat so I left the truck on , after about an hour it idled up to 1k for about 10-15 mins and then when back down to normal. Then did the same thing about an hour later again and this time I let it do it for about 5 mins and hit the peddle and it went back down. So what’s the point of it doing this ?

Following. I was thinking about installing a high idle on my f250 when it comes in, but according to this I may not need to. ThreeLRanch did your ac run cold the entire time you were waiting?

Yes the AC was on the whole time because it was 98 and I’m a sissy to the heat.

Auto regeneration. It’s your DPF getting cleaned out. It raises the rpms to get the exhaust to the proper temperature to burn out the filter. It’s best to let it finish and not hit the brake and stop it, either that or take it for a highway drive for 20-30min. If you stop it, it will start it again when hwy driving or at idle. I’m sure is discusses it further in the manual.

I was kind of thinking it was that but with it doing it two times it got me to thinking it wasn’t that , I didn’t hit the break I tap the skinny peddle.
