Just started to notice a very high frequency whine during acceleration. It’s subtle but noticeable. Any ideas on what this might be? Sounded like it was coming from the back initially but now I am thinking it is an engine related issue.

Thanks!

Welcome to owning a new 10spd. According to Ford it is perfectly normal sound coming from the transmission pump gears (There is a TSB explaining this). Google search it and you'll see. It also a problem in the GM version too. The weird part is not all of them do it. My diesel does not do it or it is masked by the sound of the diesel engine sound (I'm pretty sure it does not do it though). My wife's gas engine SUV with 10speed does it though (Pretty loud with windows down, don't hear it with windows up). I would love to meet the engineer that thought this sound was okay.

I just fired the truck up in the driveway. Mine is definitely a metal to metal vibration. More than likely in the exhaust. I am guessing I have a loose hanger. Will inspect further later today.

Okay great, hopefully just a loose exhaust shield, easy fix.
