Is anybody towing with a Hensley Hitch? Coming from a slightly lifted (Roadmaster Active Suspension and 2" leveling kit) F150 and still planning on using our awesome Hensley Hitch with our 34' travel trailer and wondering if I'm going to need a different stinger for the Hensley. The one I currently have was fine for the F150 but the Tremor is a little higher at the receiver (about 2"). Hensley will swap for the correct one but I don't know yet if I need it or not. The trailer is still in storage.

Yep, I tow with a Hensley. I use the 4" stinger, and it seems about right. Different trailer brands/makes can sit a bit different, so you may be ok with a 2". Up to you but you might want to wait until you can try it out before swapping it out.

Thanks. Yeah, I'll wait until I can try the one I have. My F150 squatted quite a bit under the 1100 lb tongue weight of our trailer (Grand Design Imagine 2970RL) so even tho the truck was high everything leveled out under load. I'll be able to check it next week.

I got a new Hensley with a 6” drop and it’s too low with our Reflection 315RLTS. With the trailer leveled using a 4 foot level on the floor I get a 25” coupler height. 2” drop may be 1/2 to high. 4” will be 1 1/2”low. I get 2” of squat and my receiver height with the 2 1/2” is 23 3/4”.

What’s your coupler height?

I didn't get a coupler height measurement. The spot my trailer sits in is not level and the way I have to raise one side of it makes it hard to get any useful measurements. I hooked it up yesterday and took it to a level empty parking lot and measured the frame to ground distance. I was high in the front by 4" compared to the back. I called Hensley and was told that a 4" drop stinger should be right for me. It will be here tomorrow and I'll take it and check it again but it sounds like it might be good with a 4" drop. Swapping it out will also give me a 2-1/2" shank instead of having to use a reducer. There was a lot of play in the stinger with the reducer and it was chucking a lot especially when I stopped.

Off your topic, but curious to know your thoughts on the Roadmaster Active Suspension. Are you planning to install that on your Tremor as well?

I have a 4" drop on the way as well. Hopefully this get's me close to level. I will say the 2 1/2 shank doesn't move much so you should see an improvement.

I almost went with a 2" drop but thinking the Tremor should be 2" higher then a regular super duty. Ideally I would like about 1" nose down to get as much clearance for the trailer in the rear as the there is no protection if it drags.

It was great. I installed it to help with the porpoising the trailer was causing with the light suspension on the F150. It raised the rear a little so I also added a 2" leveling kit which gave it a great stance. I also changed the tires to Cooper At3's to help with the weight. All 3 combined made it very capable of towing my 8900 lb trailer. The only reason I went to the F250 was for payload. I don't see a need for the RAS on this truck. The nice thing about the RAS is that you don't even know it's there until you add a load to it. Easy to install too.

I'm thinking your Reflection probably has a similar coupler height as my Imagine. I have a 2" drop now and it's definitely not enough. I also want some nose down. Just the short distance I towed the trailer with that 4" difference front to rear wasn't fun.

Curious to see if you went with the 2” or 4” drop stinger?
