Headlight Warranty

Anyone in the Phoenix area deal with this? Any dealers to go to. I went to Sanderson and got a “no” that’s not covered.
If you have under 3 years and 36K it's absolutely covered. Try a different dealer. I should hear something back soon on mine.

Saw your post and figured I'd check mine....yep same issue on the driverside headlight . I'm only at 20,000 miles and have about 8 months until I hit the 3 year mark so I'm thinking I'll hold off on replacement until I get closer to allow the passenger side light to catch up and get the most life out of the replacement lights. Frustrating.

to add: BAP, completely stock, sits outside (though the front is mostly in the shade during the day when parked at my house)

Dealer just called - new headlights will be here from Ford in the next 2-3 days. :)

If it's only the BAP trucks I wonder if it has to do with increased temperature from heat within the assembly? Just thinking the black would absorb more energy vs. the non-BAP. That heat would tend to radiate upwards, where the delam issues are seen...
I don’t know if it’s 💯 BAP trucks but it sure does seem like it is most of them.

The word is that it's all trucks regardless of BAP or Non-BAP. I do feel climate has something do to with it. My truck lives outside, and we have a fair amount of temp changes, rain, snow, grit...but it's a truck! :)

Could be worse. Here;s what my 2017 did. Of course it was out of bumper to bumper

Its all quad beam headlights from 20-22. I am going to put some clear pieces of PPV with UV protection over the top of mine after I get mine replaced through warranty and just send it.

My tint guy recommended PPF over ceramic once I get the lights replaced - quoted $200 total for the pair - does that sound reasonable?

I added the light coverage as well when we did the extended warranty
Will the extended warranty cover this? Mine were replaced under warranty, the replacement set is doing it again. I have the extended warranty with light covereage but didnt think it would cover this.

I’m not completely sure. I too have the extended warranty with light coverage, but I almost feel the way it’s worded it’s more for bulbs and not housings. I’ve asked others, but have no surefire answers, or if anyone has had a successful replacement post 3m/36k b2b expiration.

I am thinking UV PPF for my new set.

Yes. I had my truck professionally ceramic coated and the entire front and front third of fenders/hood done (been doing that on all of our trucks the last few years). Hard to say if the $200 for lights is accurate as I do all of it at once, but it seems reasonable if they’re using the high end film like XPel, etc. So far, my headlights in my ‘22 (along with my ‘19 and wife’s ‘18 Expedition) haven’t had the issue. We do park all three in a garage, though.

Thats true, not just BAP. The issue goes back farther than that. It was happening to some of the 17-19's too. I had one headlight replaced on my '19 for this reason while under the B to B. It was 3 years old at the time, in a part of the country that barely breaks out of the 60's year round, and no winter weather. It was parked outside 24/7. I've read from other owners, that the extended warranty, even with lighting coverage, doesn't cover it. I imagine they consider it cosmetic.

It seems the issue is only with projector lens headlights. The sun comes in, and the top projector lens will reflect the rays back towards the top of the headlight housing in a concentrated manner. My wear pattern at the top aligns with this.

Well that’s super interesting. So it’s from the inside out…how in the heck are we going to solve this one?

I think the heat concentration is greatest at the top. Just ceramic coat and PPF your new headlights and don’t worry about it.

Sounds good, brother. I’ll follow that advice. They are too sexy to chafe.

Same thing happened to both headlights on my 22 BAP. I had ceramic coated them when new. Thought that was what was happening. Guess it didn’t matter. Liking the ppf/vinyl idea. As far as climate I’m in the Los Angeles desert area so no real severe weather other than HEAT!
