Hi All, I have attached pictures of the cap holder. I confirmed that the diesel and gas caps are the same size, so the cap holder will work for both. These are being sold world of mouth to members of the forum. The price a holder will be $20 shipped via USPS. All I ask is that a family/friend paypal is sent to me at kmtweb2@icloud.com. Once payment is received, I'll get the holder queued up for printing. Please also include your forum handle, real name and mailing address. When it's ready to be shipped out, a USPS tracking number will be provided. Thanks for your interest. I have been using one since October and it's been great. We have received alot of positive feedback from members that bought the fuel cap holder.

I suppose it that it is held on with double sided tape (provided?). Nice design. Easy to print with no real over hangs except for the threads and that is nothing for most printers. What material are you printing with since manufacturers claim that PLA is “environmentally friendly”

Gorilla or 3m double-sided tape can be used. I dont provide any, partly because most people already have some. PLA filament is used.

The hook is for the tether. That holds the cap off the paint and below the fueling door. The hook isn't for the cap itself.
When I saw this thread I ran outside ?
Haha learn something new everyday. I wondered why Ford would let the cap bang against the paint. Turns out, I’m dumb.

In your defense, I checked the owners manual, and there's no reference to it. I just look for a hook out of habit because most manufacturers have some variation.

I learned about it here on the forum myself. Don’t feel bad!?

I just went and looked myself. Since I never put gas in it yet I never opened that door. Turns out, it was was already on the teacher hanger. I’m sure the dealership did not do that. My car has a holder for the cap. If your into counting up your mods just buy it so you can say you have the “fuel cap mod”. Hanging by the hook still puts it pretty close to the paint.

Huh. Weird. Mine isn’t anywhere close to the paint.

PayPal’d. Thanks for building these, KMT. I look forward to putting it into use a couple of times each week on my upcoming 7.3.

Looks like a great idea. The hook is not a problem that I have found, the problem is in trying to tighten the cap with that stupid teather. Invariable the teather is too tight and you have to fiddle with it to get the cap to click. I removed the teather on the second tank of gas.

Yup. I'm about to take my tether off. The part it connects to on the cap isn't very smooth, so the tether wraps around the cap when I tighten. It's a simple thing, but annoying as hell.

If your using these in any hot weather there going to deform pretty quickly if your not using a high heat type of PLA, best bet would be to use ABS, ASA, PETG, or Nylon.
Of these choices presented, ASA. Work with it everyday. Some has been up on a cell tower baking in the Texas heat with no failures.

And the colors don’t fade, it is preferred for outdoor use due to it’s UV resistance, not much of an issue for this application unless you drive around a lot with your gas cap open… It is a bit more difficult to print with like ABS it does warp if you don’t have good bed adhesion and an inclosed build platform/printer but I have done many things in ASA for outdoor use and it holds up well.
