I want to get the 7.3l tremor. Currently have a 16 F150 tuned 5.0l. I love the f150, had a 11 raptor 6.2l before and this 5.0L feels quicker and more fun to drive than the raptor. My question is going to a 7.3l tremor will I miss the quickness and fun to drive aspect of the 5.0L?

Go test drive one

I rent a lot of trucks for work trips. My vehicle of choice is an F-150 and my local Enterprise knows this. I’ve had plenty of seat time in F-150s with the 2.7, 3.5, and 5.0. My favorite was always the 3.5 when they had it. Their fleet constantly changes and has been mostly 5.0s for the past year. They’re rentals and driven like rentals.

The Tremor is much different to drive based on sheer size and design. It handles like a big truck with straight axles. It is not a F-150 with a suspension tuned for the road. With that said, the rumble from a 5.0 and feel of that V8, while great, pales in comparison to the 7.3. I haven’t clocked it but the Tremor is downright quick. The biggest drawback is the F-250’s top speed is governed substantially lower than the F-150’s.

Biggest thing will be the weight. I'm gonna guess at least 1500 lbs more. After that it will be the solid front axle vs. the IFS of your f150.

For the amount of money these things cost and the fact you really like your F150/5.0 and proably dont need a SD truck, I would really make the effort to test drive one. As others have said, they are big trucks and drive that way.

My 7.3 feels faster than my 2017 Raptor did. I know on paper it's not - but smile-wise it is!

Was your 2017 Raptor tuned? My 2018 Raptor with a 93 PRX MPT tune and heavy Toyo RT 37s is MUCH faster than my stock 6.7L Tremor. (Not even close)

Of course, I bought the Tremor for towing, so I did not expect it to be nimble or fast... ;)

Yeah I really like the 5.0l but the f150 isn't very offroad oriented when I bought it I thought they all came with 9.75 rears but this one has 8.8...so I worry lifting it and 35s isn't the best idea.

I totally agree with you about the 93PRX MPT tuned 3.5 Raptor. I feel that my 5Star tuned 7.3 feels a bit quicker than my 17 Raptor with it's stock tune BUT it's a totally different story with my Raptor running the 93PRX tune. My tuned 7.3 feels pretty quick now and is still no match for my tuned Raptor.
