ForScan Resources

Once you are out of wifi/cell range those issues are resolved. GPS is usually only "one way" so all you really need there is cover of some sorts. Good luck.

Found a thread on F150.com detailing how to retrofit Sync Connect to a truck that didn't have it.

https://www.f150forum.com/f118/sync-connect-retrofit-any-ford-452708/

I've not read the whole thread, and it's a few years old, but they detail how to intsall a TCU to a truck that didn't have one. On post 1 of that thread, the below instructions are listed to tell the APIM that a TCU is present. Seems completely possible you could tell the APIM that a TCU is not present via Forscan.

DON'T USE THESE SETTINGS - just adding for sake of discussion, no idea if same settings work for newer F250/350.

Setting up the TCU in ForScan requires your patience.

APIM (Sync 3):
Instruct the APIM there's a TCU:
7D0-02-02: xxxx 9xxx xxxx

Optional - instruct APIM that the TCU is hotspot capable:
7D0-02-03: 4xxx

I changed mine (option 1) I have not seen under the hood of a 23 so check for 1 or 2 BMS sensors to make the choice. I have found no difference pro/con. I made the change when I switched to AGM batteries.

ZooDad
Sorry to bring up and old thread but I've got a question about battery settings.

I've switched over to the AGM battery technology type (in Plain English) but should the SoC be kept at 120 also?

22MY 6.7, dual (AGM) batteries.

I changed mine to 100%. Nobody but Ford knows if the setting actually does anything, but I personally don't like the potential implications of overcharging a battery.

@ZooDad do you know if ForScan is going to add support for MY24? I noticed that 2024 is currently listed as not supported, and I'd love to be able to use ForScan on my '24

For common functions (same as 2023) I would expect it will work as-is. I haven't looked into the feature content enough to recall the small changes between 23 and 24 but the underlying Sync version and network architecture are the same. When you pick up your truck try plugging in and loading Forscan. Or you can wait for others to do this and confirm.

Note, 20-21MY was a similar situation with essentially the same scenario for each model year. 22MY required changes (Sync 4 unique to this model year), as did 23MY (full Sync 4 and network).

Has anyone found the forscan number or option to enable mirror cameras on turn signal at all times instead of just when a trailer is attached?

@TheManderson
Exactly what @Modman said.
With that said when you get your 24, clear your log files, load up ForScan if it connects its golden, if not wait for the error and exit ForScan then send me the log files

ZooDad

@ZooDad I'm new to Ford and have a lot to learn. I've read through several of these FORSCAN threads and appreciate experts on forums like yourself. I entered "FORSCAN TOOL" in the Amazon search bar and not sure which one is need for a 2024 F350 7.3Gas truck

Exactly what hardware / dongle / app do you recommend for FORSCAN mods?

in the advise above, how does one clear log files?

@MVI you probably won't find it that way. There aren't specific adapters just for Forscan, it just needs a generic interface to the vehicle OBD port. Best to look directly on Forscan.org - they have recommended adapters for use with their software.

Many of us use the OBDII EX wired adapter with great success: LINK

Whatever you do stay away from the Bluetooth adapters for use with Forscan!

All of this and more is mentioned in the following new user thread (sorry for the shameless plug ;) )

nice write up. i'ts shameful that I did not find it on my own.

Is there a way as a MOD to put redirect in the 23-24 section to point a new user to go look for it in 21-22 threads

Yeah I think there are a couple different ways we can accomplish this. I'll discuss with the others...

It is possible. I'll have to look up where it's located.

My guess is that it defaults to "0" which is the lowest temp setting... You can check your As-Built to see where you are at now.

Looking to purchase a laptop that will ONLY be used for FORScan. For those of you with FORScan experience. Will this laptop work for FORScan?

Should be no problem with this working w/Forscan. Way more advanced than the one I was initially using...
Awesome! Thank you!

That laptop should work ok, just a couple things to note;

It comes with Windows in "S mode", which only allows you to add apps from the Microsoft Store. To permanently disable S mode so you can install apps like Forscan, follow the steps at this link.:
Switching out of S mode in Windows

Also, be patient with the poor thing. It's power efficient, but generally underpowered and has an inadequate amount of RAM. Don't be surprised if it takes a few minutes to come off 100% cpu and get it's act together upon bootup.

Ok thank you for the info. Is there a better laptop that you recommend? or am I good with sticking with this one? I just want a laptop that will work well with FORScan and not cause me issues. It will be a dedicated laptop just for FORScan
