Hi there, I am located near Sacramento and was wondering if anyone knows a trustworthy place to get this done? Or is this mainly done through private party's? I did a search to look and the search feature yielded no results. I am not 100% certain how the Forscan process works...thinking it may be like coding that is done on BMW's? I do not have my Truck yet, but I figured I may as well get my ducks in a row for when it arrives. Thanks!

It really is a DIY experience...

You will require:
  • An OBD adaptor, wired or wireless.
  • The ForScan software loaded on a laptop, ios, or android device.
  • A free license - usually granted within a couple of hours after registration.
...And That's it.

There are several spreadsheets around, telling you what modifies what, and where to locate each entry, and there are numerous videos on YouTube, walking you through every aspect of the experience. I understand the anxiety of modifying your vehicle's factory configuration, but there is a degree of safety in the process if you stick to what has been outlined. This is one of those instances where fear of the unknown really is much greater than the experience warrants in and of itself.

Again... Don't let apprehension make the experience more difficult than it is... If you're here, you're probably very similar to the rest of us. While some are professionally or explicitly trained - most just figure things out the old-fashioned way. If you find yourself stuck, reach out; you're sure to find an answer.

Nice summary @Jericho - I agree completely. One note is that there are things that have changed with Sync4 for the 22MY and we are figuring those nuances out as we go...

@Mtn_Skier there are many people on here willing to help and make the experience as painless as possible. I'd be happy to assist where I can.

Thank you both for your replies. Glad to know it is a mod I can do myself. My laptop took an unexpected tumble recently so it looks like I have another excuse/reason to get a new one. @Modman, I may reach out as the time gets closer, and thank you for your generous offer. I have to say I’ve been a member of a lot of forums and this one really seems oriented around helping each other out. 👍

Definitely! The best forum I have experienced as well, by far!!

I have the software on my laptop and the adapter in Zephyr Cove. I'll be home between Christmas and New Years. Do you plan on being up here skiing during that time?
Thank you for the offer! I'm up there all the time, although I typically try to avoid Tahoe on the long Holiday breaks. More importantyly, will I have my truck by then. I had hoped it would arrive in December, but I am not liking what I am hearing recently from my salesman.

Save my info for when you're ready. I'm happy to help if you want.

I have the wired adapter and am just up the hill in Placerville. I have not had a chance to dive into this yet but will soon. You are welcome to borrow the adapter anytime and I'll share what I learn as I go. I hope your truck gets here soon, they are worth the wait!

So, will changing the programs via Forscan affect the manufacturers' warranty? I would be interested in learning more myself.

I texted my salesman and he said no, not taking his word on that though. He did say most of the guys that work at the dealer have done several mods through FORScan. You can change the mods back easily, but I do believe there is a log of what's been done if the dealer really digs into it.

Thank you
