Forscan in FL

Hijack alert .. Me Too . I’ll even give ya $2
I’ve got the cable if you‘ve got the laptop ... or I could always grab one from work again.

You’d have to register for the free trial as I’m sure mine has long expired.

I’ll pay a few hundred to get it right. Last shop that said they could do it fried a couple modules and I have gremlins that the Ford dealer is trying to get rid of.
They fried a couple of modules? I wonder what really happened as you are just changing software settings without the risk of causing damage to hardware components. Plus, any shop who claims to know how to use Forscan should ALWAYS backup the modules and be able to restore incorrect changes in a couple of minutes.

Yeah not happy. I asked them to back up all my original stuff and they said yeah no problem. Now I am afraid to take truck there again and just brand it to dealer. I didn’t tell dealer I had done the work. Should I?

Ask the original shop to give you the backups they made of the modules. The dealer or another Forscan competent shop can restore them back to their original settings to resolve any Gremlins they might have inadvertently introduced.

I would tell your dealer what happened to prevent them from troubleshooting all kinds of unrelated “fixes”. They might charge you to do the work, since it is not warranty related, but at least your truck will be whole again.

If the original shop did not back them up, there is a Ford website where you can download your original settings based on your VIN. I do not have the site from my phone, but I can look it up when I get to my computer.

@J-Maxx

EDIT:
Here is the Ford website to get your As-Built files for your truck using the VIN.
https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt

I grabbed mine from the website and then, I also made full backups of every module. When I was done, I made backups of the modules I changed.

Just watch a few you tube videos, Forsan is so easy.

Just need to take your time. double check the codes and only set one or two at a time.

Did my backups, and first changes.
Added the Temp above the gauges, Turn signal flash to 5

Went off without a hitch. Ran outta time

Then changed Radio Splash Screen to Ford Performance... nothing... There's literally no splash screen, and honestly, I kinda like it better. The home screen pops right up, as a whole, it seems much "snappier".

I'll go back and try the Splash Screen again tomorrow or this weekend

Yep, it took me a couple of tries to get the Ford Performance splash screen to work. I ended up using 16 which translated to 10 on the page:

APIM
Boot Animation
7D0-02-01 5553 4003 F47A (Original)
7D0-02-01 xxxx 10xx xxxx (Ford Perf) 16

The truck must have had to go to sleep.. i went out to get in the truck to go to dinner, and there it was. So mission accomplished, even if delayed.

Mine was 16 Ford Performance

Gonna change a few other things this weekend, will report back if I am successful.

Forscan is pretty easy once ya get past the whole intimidation factor.. go figure, I was a diag tech most if my life, flashing modules, etc etc, but never got a chance/opportunity to actually edit hex values

That might have been it for mine, as well. The splash screen was blank the first couple of times I turned it off and on, so I went back into Forscan and changed it back to the original value, and then back to 16 again. It did not start working until the next time I got in the truck a day later and it has been working ever since.

My problem has been I don't have a Windows Laptop. I'm going out to find one that will do this shit today. I've had the Cord for the 2021 models for some time (don't know what the differences are)
I just want my Nav Tv to work. And .. if I could get rid of the Child Seat warning too. That drives me f'n nuts. Check your backseat dumb ass. (who's idea was that) Anyway, I'll never know, if I don't try.

You can turn it off in advanced settings on the dashboard. Just don't forget to check for the baby!

this thread is a little old. I am in south Florida, I am good with computers but would like a little assistance from someone that has used Forscan before successfully.

Looking for someone in the Daytona area. Just want to do Bambi mode and blinker and seat belts. Thanks
