F350 vs F250 rear springs

Outa town on travel so no pics of springs but I have the door jam stickers (travel trailer shopping). But my F350 6.7 has a payload of 3418 and a GVWR of 11500

I am speculating here but believe the big part of the diesel high capacity tow package is increased GVWR to 10800. It appears the diesel is around 800LBS Heavier than the 7.3L and wold really suffer on towing capacity assuming just a 15% pin weight. For example the heavily equipped Lariat 250 7.3L Tremor I test drove had a payload of 2783, 10000 GVWR, and the a near twin diesel had payload of 2782 ,10800 GVWR. Assuming a 150LB driver both would max out at about 17,500 LB towing capacity due to payload. Since the gaser has only a 2600 GVWC we have to adjust the max towing down to around 16,200 to stay at 2600 GVWC at a 15% pin weight. A lesser optioned truck would be required to achieve what Ford is publishing for max. Without the HCTTP, payload Of 800LB less would limit the max towing to a measly 12,200 at 15% pin weight. The HCTTP is most likely not offered on the gas since with 4:30 gears it is very close in max towing of the HCTTP. I also wonder if the lighter 7.3L engine is why the conventional towing is limited to 15K beyond only getting the 2.5” receiver. I suspect there may not be enough weight up front with the 7.3L to keep from getting too light on the front axle from heavier tongue weights when towing conventional.
Most logical and thought out response I’ve see. Makes sense to me on lighter front end with 7.3.

Since the Tremor package can be added to so many different models we were eager to try them all. However, in talking to the many Ford engineers who were present at the drive program, we quickly learned that both the F-250 and F-350 Tremor share the same rear springs. Both trucks use the standard-rate F-350 rear leaf spring pack. So, when you buy an F-250 Tremor, you're really getting F-350 hardware.
The bigger difference is in the powertrains. The Tremor can be optioned with either Ford's new 7.3L gasoline V-8 or the company's 6.7L Power Stroke diesel. To compensate for the added weight of the diesel, the progressive rate front coil springs are unique to each engine. In driving both trucks back-to-back, we did notice the weight of the diesel engine over the nose, but only slightly. Spring and shock tuning is so dialed that the heavier diesel engine didn't prove to be a detriment off-road.”

Mine is an F-250 with 4.30 and 7.3L. Springs are the same as others have posted and rear axle is M275

So for bragging rights, for all intents and purposes, I did get a 350. Hah!

So if I'm towing a 13,500# package with my F250 7.3 I should be fine, yeah? Looking at a new boat.

Yes you just don’t have the expensive sticker in the door ($900 to $1100 Depending on engine choice for my build). The possibly of doing some light intrastate commercial pushed me to fork over for that extra $1100. It is one expensive sticker but will pay for it self the first time I get scaled hauling equipment.

Interesting. Seem to be the same between them. Be curious to confirm this with a 6.7 350. The 6.7 allows for a trailer tow package that ups the weight to the 30k. Wonder if that's all drive train. I do think they have different rear axles between gas and diesel
According to the 2020 Trailer Tow Guide on page 22 - 25, for the Tremors the highest Tow rating from the Hitch is 15,000 For both 250 & 350. Gooseneck & Fifth Wheel ratings are slightly Different, but the highest rating on an F350 Tremor with the 6.7 PSD looks to be 21,900.

for my build it was $500 defference when built at the dealer.... they had different prices then online

I used the Ford partner site pricing (X-Plan) initially when comparing prices. I only had the dealer build and quote the F-350 gas version but at only $500 would have been a even easier decision to get the F-350. Still a expensive sticker.

I still would like to do a detailed comparison of the F350 vs F250. There is a claim that the F350 gets a extra cross member on the frame. That would explain why the heavier optioned F250 with a 10,000lb GVWR and payload of 2883 vs my F350 11300 GVWR and payload of 3826. Both trucks have almost same opinions but the F-250 had the additional options of: pro backup, sunroof, and dual battery. My F-350 has the split bench, vinyl floor, value package vs the F-250 with council, carpet, and ultimate package. I expected a payload of over 4K using the F-250 as a reference.

yea some of the packages on the F250 cost more ... and the F350 i believed had more discount like the camera were cheaper on F350 vs F250 i believe

I think if you get

I think if you get the 5th wheel prep from the factory you get that cross member thats on the 350.....or I could be imagining.....

I do know with the Max Capacity Trlr Tow and 10800 GVWR, the axel and rear end are also the same as the 350.... so it IS the same truck. Give or take one alleged cross member.....

I think that the hitch itself can only handle 15,000# and the hitch is the same on each truck. The F350 can handle more weight than the F250 in the bed. That is the difference.
If you want ro tow a heavier 5th wheel or goose neck you should get the F350.

I have read the transmissions are definitely different between the diesel and gas trucks, too. My truck has the Dana M275 rear axle, which I think is the same as the diesel.
Thanks for everyone helping figure this out!
Yah diesel don’t like turning 6,000 rpms lol
