F350 Tremor fifth wheel towing and getting sway

I just upgraded our F250 to an F350 for towing our new fifth wheel and fell in love with the Tremor package as it looks so awesome so that’s what we got (well and it was the only one for miles around!). Anyway the first tow with the fifth wheel (it’s GVWR is 16k fully loaded, and we don’t have it fully loaded) and I seem to be getting some trailer sway under braking coming into corners. I have the B&W companion slider hitch but I plan to replace that with the Anderson hitch when if arrives to drop some weight. I do have the B&W hitch in the rear most location so I could flip it around to move the trailer a bit further over the axle, so maybe that would help?



Has anyone else towed a fifth wheel with the tremor? What might be causing the sway? I have the front tires @ 60 psi cold and rear @ 80 psi. It does seem to come from the front end a bit so I am thinking maybe I need to pump up the front tires to 75 or 80 psi also? Is there a better sway bar package I can install to help with this?
 
The tremor package does not come with rear sway bar for off road articulation- you can get an oem or aftermarket-
 
I towed our roughly 12k (Probably over that) 5th wheel with our "250" Tremor and had no sway issues in high winds - didn't notice any issues in braking either. I did have my rear tires at 80 and fronts at 70. Possibly that 10psi in the fronts makes all the difference.
 
Thanks! I didn’t realize there was no rear sway. Gonna pump the front tires up for the trip home and invest in a hellwig sway bar setup. Prolly go for 75 psi front which is what I used to tow our bumper pull at with the F250.
 
Is it worth replacing the front sway bar with the hellwig as well as or it is mainly the rear that needs to be installed?

That’s where I’m at now. Hellwig rear made a big difference but debating on replacing the front with a Hellwig too. I don’t tow every week so I’m still on the fence.
 
the 5th wheel plate connects both frame rails together so it really doesn’t save articulation by going without a sway bar. Ford should probably use a sway bar if 5th wheel package is ordered.

Pulled last summer and fall.

I did add the Helwig sway bar and sumo bags over winter. So looking forward to the season next week. I can update the difference with the new parts.

I did not notice it as a problem last year but I came from a 3500 Sliverado and Chevy trucks are whimpy compared to Fords so I was happy.

Well pumping the front tires up to 75 psi made a huge difference on the way home. Looking forward to installing the rear sway bar and then I think it will be golden.

Related to tire pressures, the ratings for the truck are for 60 psi front and 80 psi rear. So of course from the dealership that’s how the tires are inflated. Yet when you drive the truck around without a load, there is way more weight on the front end so I am curious if you guys lower the rear pressure for daily driving to 60 psi also, as I suspect that will make the ride smoother and it clearly won’t need that much pressure when the front will have more weight on it?
 
60/70 unloaded has been good.
I have been running 51/55 great ride but thats empty. Tomorrow I have a 5er to move so I will air up to more just not sure how much more. I wish I would have not dragged my feet on the onboard air compressor

Good to know. I let the front and rear both down to 60 psi this morning and it drove really nice driving around empty. I might try a litttle lower tomorrow.
 
I thought i've read that many turn off the sway control in the vehicle settings and this for some reason reduces the sway they experience?

Havent had a chance to tow ours yet as i'm still breaking in the truck but something to consider.
 
I did not try that, but the sway sensor was certainly triggering when I had sway driving to the camp ground. But it never went off once on the way back with the front tires inflated to 75 psi and that roads we were on are pretty windy (one reason we use it for our break in trips to see how it handles :) ). It was also darn windy on the way home so the tires made a big difference. Just ordered the big wig for the rear, so can't wait to try it again when I get that installed.

This is exactly what I did....and it did improve the ride!
 
I can't find the post right now, but the factory sway bar bolts right in. There is a post that has all the part numbers. I add this to my Tremor for hauling the camper and it was easy and works well.
Is the tremor already prepped for rear sway bar?

I think I saw a part list as well when I was researching. Appreciate the help hopefully I can get installed and fix the swaying
