Just bought a 2021 with the 6.7L Diesel. I've been advised to purchase an extended warranty simply because of the expense of possible repairs.

Which brand warranty would you guys recommend and for what duration? Costs?

FloodFord is a good place to start.

Cheers.
You can do a search on here for the discussion threads, theres a couple other Dealers who will wholesale the ESP's. I got mine from Flood, hard to beat. You need to stick with a Ford ESP though. Duration? How many miles do you drive a year and how long do you plan to keep it?

The threads also have members thoughts on get it or dont get it. I would say its probably about 60% get it, gas or diesel, I have gas, but I would say its a no brainer for the diesel. Just my 2.

I think this was mentioned a few other times, but apparently the extended warranty from Ford will not cover DPF filter maintenance. From how I understand it they consider that to be regular maintenance similar to changing your air filter. I probably would have bought one if it had covered that, just wanted to save you the cash if that was the main reason behind you buying one.

Google Flood Ford ESP and then you can download the brochures for the Warranty and the Mait plans, so you know what you are and are not getting. Its two separate plans, and two separate $.

And Congrats and Welcome, lots of good information here and if you have a question, chances are its been discussed.

Is there any advantage to purchasing the extended warranty when you get the truck versus waiting until the regular Ford warranty is close to expiration? Do you get more coverage than the standard warranty?

I believe it’s a little cheaper if you do it in the first 12 months.

With all the electronics on the new trucks and especially the ones sitting waiting for parts I'd definitely buy one.

It is a true statement that you can pick up the ESP during the 3 years 36K bumper to bumper and it is the same. If you wait until after the 3-36, it will be a different ESP type and length.

Myself, I will monitor the 3-36K and make that decision as I go rather than upfront. First, I have to get a truck. My current F-150, I bought the ESP up front when I bought the truck and have never used it.

NOTE: It is also true the the DPF is NOT covered by the ESP but it is covered by the 5 year emissions warranty. I think the years and mileage vary slightly by state and whether or not the vehicle is certified for California emissions. This is based on my quick read of the warranty for 2021 MY which I am attaching for reference.

I paid 3,925$ 8 yr 125,000 miles 0$ deductible plus key fob, and interior and exterior lights.
I researched everyone’s posts. I called several different places. 2 were very close in price. I chose Flood Ford was the easiest purchase and price. Here’s all the DD with break down and details of everything. Best of luck. ???????

I think the extended might be worth getting, but if it provides nothing further during the first 3/36K timeframe than the standard warranty from Ford, I'm thinking I might just wait to get it around the end of the 3/36K period.

@keiser , it provides zero benefit in the 3 year 36K time period. It merely extends that by x years and x miles. Remember, it starts from delivery date going forward even if you buy it up front; IE 5 year 125K doesn't add an additional 5 years and 125K, it extends the 3 year by 2 years and adds the additional 89K miles.

But, you raise a good point. our rep is also the Fleet Sales Mgr. Noted that most everyone does the Extended Service Plan and the Premium Maintenance plan. So we did both. Good or bad, worth it , or not, Peace of mind when we haul all over. It made sense. The maintenance plan we did was interesting! you can spread it out over 18Mos. 0%. I can get some details if you want. on the extended warranty, (is that also ESP?) we did the 10year 120K (I believe too many things signed today). What a banner Morning for a Monday!

I know the notes above also make sense from a practical standpoint. A TON of fine print in these. In the end, I can fix and do anything- But the misses goes on hauling journey's. IF something happens, I just want her to make a call, get a hotel, and when it's done she drives off. So that's also part of my 'why'. It's a personal choice for sure.

I personally think the Ford extended is the way to go.....If you have 1 failure it pays for itself......a fuel system repair on a 6.7 will run 5-10 THOUSAND dollars!
