I had a 2017 Cummins that really kicked in when the exhaust brake was activated. It really made that semi sound when slowing down. My f250 when I push the button nothing really seems to happen. I’ve tried several different ways and while towing 12,000 pounds. Is it that weak or could mine have an issue? Thanks everyone

I use auto exhaust brake and tow haul mode and was 16k lbs and driving thought the mountains ... It made a big difference but doesn't make any big sounds but you heard the turbo more but if you trying and you take your door off the throttle you feel it slowing down over coasting ... It works .... Not saying it the best thing ever but the cummins exhaust brake it like God tier ... We all can't have God tier ... But it works and does it job ... At least it did for me but it BURNS THOUGHT DEF!!!!!!!!!!!

I noticed the same thing think the Cummins exhaust brake works way better just because it’s a six cylinder versus eight cylinder 6 cylinder brings it to a stop fords tranny in tow model slows to but noticed a big difference between the two

Set the exhaust brake to auto with tow mode on and it will attempt to hold the speed you were at when you lifted off the accelerator. Also, the cruise control does a pretty good job of managing downhill speed.

It works great with the adaptive cruise control in towing mode. Much better than the GM version. The 10 speed is so nice for the brake very smooth.
The Cummins brake system is crude and harsh, probably why you liked it. You know it's there. Surprises me that the crappy Dodge Transmissions don't blow up under load.
