Texas is being covered by fluffy rain right now, so I decided to get out and see how the streets are. I ran though a number of driving modes, and I have to say that in 4H with slippery mode, the truck is amazing. It hooks up, stays straight under full throttle, and fully scoots! Of course, braking isn't any better hauling the beast down, but it really does an amazing job! Now I want to try all the other modes out in their intended circumstances.

I forgot about that mode. Thanks for the reminder.

Remember that regardless of mode or situation you find yourself in, the most important thing between you and the road is the quality of the tire.

Since you have a 6.7 try using your exhaust brake when the roads are slippery, as soon as you take your foot off the throttle you get instant braking from exhaust brake. Works good for me.

Agreed. I drove a round a little bit today with the different drive modes, as well as driving around the Austin area a month ago. The dumbed down torque coupled with the grippy Toyo RTs make short work of the snow. I stuck the truck into 4H on the snow covered roads, and it was a glorious drive with no traction problems. As like you, though, ABS sounded like it was going to rattle the brakes off the truck even though I was going all of 4 mph.

Yeah yeah I literally said the same thing you just did, but I'm as excited as you are. Haha.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try hitting the brake-fart button next time I'm out.

Be careful with that, engine brakes can put you in a skid also, I would rather control my own braking when slippery.

How do you put it in different modes. I have Sport down, what's the others? How do you put it in the others?

Button on the end of the column shifter

The button on the end of the gear shifter allows you to cycle through the modes.

Not that I would do it, but 2WD high, sport mode and locked rear differential could allow you to do some awesome power-slides in snow covered parking lots. Hypothetically of course....

I used to do that in my 03 6.0 with my air locker engaged in 2HI amazing how quickly the rear comes around. Good times.

It sure does. I couldn't get it tp break loose for anything. Now stopping is still an issue.

Good thread. I was saving my mods for real snow but did not think to use them in a duster. We haven’t had much snow to play in this year but plenty of slippery conditions.
