I plan on getting a Tremor to tow an 11,000-pound 30' travel trailer. We live full-time in an RV and plan on using this setup to go remote into the mountains of the western US.

I was considering an F550 with a large slide-in camper. We would flat tow our Jeep behind the truck and use it to explore the places that the F550 would not go. Picture Imogene Pass in Ouray, CO.

We are currently exploring the idea of towing a 30' trailer and using the truck (Tremor) to explore. Considering that the truck will need to do double duty (frequently tow the trailer across the country and weekly offroading trips), would you get a SuperCab with a long bed or a SuperCrew with a short bed. Maybe I need to throw a SuperCab with a short bed and a SuperCrew with a long bed into the mix?

BTW: If size did not matter, I would do the SuperCrew and long bed. I think that gives you the most "use case" flexibility.

BTW2: Diesel or Gas?

BTW3: F250 or F350?

Thoughts?

IIRC if you can only add the Tremor package to CCSB trucks. So if Tremor package isn't a hard requirement, my next comment would be that CCSB or SCLB are both the same wheel base and I think overall length. It really comes down to how much space you want in the cab vs. how large are items you want in the bed and still be able to have the tailgate up.

Hands down the Jeep will get you in, and back out of tighter spots. You are really the best one to make that call. based on what you've said. I'm wondering if a long bed truck and a side by side that fits in the bed is the happy medium for you. This is assuming the travel trailer is bumper pull.

For engine I went diesel. I've driven older SDs with the V10 gas motor, and a 2018 with the 6.7. 6.7 was a no brainer for me.

250 and 350 Tremor are the same truck, with the 250 derated and it has 250 badges.

250 with High Cap tow is a 350

It depends on what you care about your capacity stickers reading.

Have you flat towed a Jeep before?
Have you considered a toy hauler?

This is exactly what I was picturing when I said use case flexibility. Yes, the trailer is a bumper pull.

If I didn't get the Tremor, I would get the F550 Lariat 4x4 with a flatbed. It wouldn't wheel like the tremor, but having the side by side in the bed would solve that.

When it comes to diesel, I am old school. I liked the clicking and clacking of my 6.0 Excursion. It's the same reason that I ride a Harley and not a Goldwing.... The Goldwing is probably a better bike, but no sound.... LOL

yes, but we are trying to keep the new RV to 30' or less.

Since we will live in it for 6+ months a year, we want maximum living space (and no gas smell). We want to visit a lot more national parks and BLM land so bigger is not better.

We will spend the rest of the year in the motorhome (in FL).
