So, 12 days in and I have my first issue...

I really liked the keypad, and have been using it when running out to get something from the truck while at home or work.

This morning, go to take my work stuff out before I eat breakfast, and the pad doesn't respond. No backlight, nada.

Try it again this afternoon at work, same. Was dropping by the dealer to check on some parts I ordered anyway, they can't get to it until next Thursday. No biggie.

Anyone else have issues with the keypad?

no never, but i have seen issues with 2021 .... all different things not working or not sealed correctly

I've owned several Ford vehicles with it and have NEVER had it not work. It is a must have for me as I like to leave my keys in the truck when I leave so the aren't poking me in my pocket. I LOVE that option.

Do you have pushbutton start? I was thinking if you left the key in the truck it would allow you to open the doors? I have the plain keyed ignition XLT and do leave keys in the truck if Im kayaking/biking or somethingn like that.

So, was messing around with ForScan for the first time last night, and the BCM has a DTC for the keypad. Indicates Electrical Fault. So, it may be a harness issue

Have never touched the keypad of my '16 F150.
I find the fob more convenient and no way would I lock it inside
using the keypad. My only beef with the fob is I tend to set off
the panic alarm if there are doubloons in my pocket with it.

Use the keypad all the time. I wouldn't buy a truck without it.

Take out the ATV's and I don't want keys in my pocket.
Head to the airport don't need keys in my pocket.
Go swimming don't have a pocket.
Go kayaking no keys in my pocket.
Need to leave a vehicle for someone else, leave the keys in it.

I use the keypad when i play hockey,

I hide my keys and wallet/phone in the truck then lock it with the keypad.

The rinks have had a lot of history with people breaking into locker rooms stealing all the phones and keys then cleaning out peoples trucks. I hope to avoid being caught in one of these heists.

Valid uses above that I don't need. Of course there was that time I left my rental's keys on top a mountain in New Mexico. For some stupid reason I took them out of my pack while eating lunch and set them on a rock. About 1/4 of the way down I remembered, thank God! It meant I got to ski the best snow again!

What Ford should do is design it so that if you leave the fob in the truck and lock it with the keypad it cannot be started if someone breaks in and finds the fob.

The big problem with fobs in Europe is that the pro thieves buy a high end make's fob programmer for $4-5000. They find the vehicle they want and go to the dealer and buy a spare unprogrammed fob. Then they break in, plug the unit into the OBD, program the fob, and drive it away in 45-90 seconds straight into a container bound for E Europe, Middle East, and Africa. With a $150-200K Merc, Land Rover, etc the programmer pays for itself in one go!

Nobody knows if the FOB is in the truck, the alarm would go off while they searched for something that may not exist.

Oh, forgot to mention. I assume it may not start if not properly unlocked. Meaning I assume you can’t break the window and crawl in and start it if the key is inside. Don’t know for certain though.

If the fob is in the front half of the cab I believe it will start.

i dont have push button start so unless they knew i locked the keys in the truck they wouldn't look foe them

No I don't. I felt that the ultimate package was too expensive for a bunch of stuff that I didn't want. I just added the things from it I needed a la carte.

Got my truck Friday and just went out to mess with the Securicode despite having never touched it on my '16. I thought it was supposed to light up when you touch it? I was messing with stuff in the system the other day. Is it possible that I turned it off somehow?

No, this was what happened with mine.

The keypad came back after a few dry days. It recurred again after a rainstorm, but returned a day later. Five heavy rains since and I have not had a problem. I purposely use it every day to check function, and I have not had an issue for a solid three weeks.

If you have ForScan, check the BCM for a DTC. I had one when it did not work.

My guess is it is either harness related and that has shifted clear, or it was not quite sealed when I took delivery. We had a few warm days that may have allowed the sealant to bond fully. ?‍♂️

I’d be in a world of hurt if mine stopped working. I use it all the time and would be hard pressed to go to a vehicle without it, I’ve gotten very used to it over the years.

MoKan, I'm in SoCal, what's rain?
