I was under the drivers side of the Tremor just now looking over the location for installing the AMP bedstep2 and I noticed this dead ended plug on the frame rail. Does anyone have something plugged into this?

BTW there is one on the passenger side as well.

Thanks in advance.

I believe that is the connection for the optional factory power running-boards.
That would be too good to be true since I do have the running boards from AMP. But the wiring harness that I have for the installation looks like more is involved than just supplying and taking away power. It would be awesome if it was this easy along with a FORSCAN change to the display and maybe add a missing fuse to the fusebox...

The amp step should come with an OBDII connector. You run the purple wire through the grommet where you feet are and you crimp on the OBDII connector. Power goes to the battery. I dont think you can use this connector for the steps. Its for lights. You can run the amp lights or any aftermarket LED lights to these.

Yes, it does come with the OBDII connector so I also picked up a splitter from AMP so I still have access to the OBDII port in the stock location.
I also picked up the bypass switch to leave the steps down for some strange reason knowing you can just step on them when the door shuts to prevent them from retracting.
After putting on the bedside steps removing the stock running boards and installing the power steps is next. I will have to look through the instructions and see if they suggest using the connections for the included lights.

Do you have a Platinum? I looked under my Lariat and didn't see it.

Hoping someone with factory power steps chimes in to say if this is where the step lights are plugged in. Perhaps volunteer where the steps are plugged in. Maybe there will be another unused connector for that somewhere?

I have a lariate ultimate sport with power steps and I don't have that connection on the frame. The factory steps don't light up but I will snap a photo tomorrow during the daylight if you want. Just a little dark right now.

Looking at them on Amazon and they say will not work on my 2020. Did you have to change anything on them like they are saying in the reviews for speakers?
I think amazon might be referring to these not working on a 2020 for speaker purposes but they work fine for the lights. I have a 2020 and it worked fine to add lights.
