This is a shocker. I just got a call from my Dealership GSM informing me that the PCO expired, and I should not have had my 2K taken off the truck. The GSM stated the dealership called Ford and Ford said they will not honor it because the truck came in too late. I just called Ford Marketing and they pushed me back to the dealer (which I have to call back), but told me they can see the PCO and it being applied to my name.

Here is the PCO wording, keep in mind the truck was ordered on 4/28 and picked up 12/27.

Here is your Exclusive Cash Reward code. Just show this code to your Ford Dealer and either place an order or take new retail delivery by 10/04/21 to receive one of these special offers toward the purchase or lease of a new Ford vehicle:*
  • $2,000 on F-150, Super Duty® or Expedition
  • $1,250 on Ranger, Explorer, Edge, Escape, EcoSport or Mustang
  • $750 on most other Ford models

*New 2020/2021/2022 vehicles: $2,000 on F-150, Super Duty® or Expedition only. $1,250 on Ranger, Explorer, Edge, EcoSport, Escape or Mustang only. $750 on most other vehicles. Excludes Bronco™ SUV, Maverick, Ford GT, F-150 Lightning, F-150 Raptor, Mustang Mach-E, Mustang Mach 1 and Mustang Shelby® GT350/350R/500. May not combine with other private or commercial offers, conquest cash, owner loyalty and lease renewal programs. A/Z/D Plan ineligible. Nontransferable out of household. Limit one per household. U.S. residents. Prior purchases not eligible. Place order or take new retail delivery from an authorized Ford or Lincoln Dealer's stock by 10/4/21. See dealer for details. Dealer: Claim in VINCENT using #38204 and customer ID.

When did you receive the PCO? If it was before 4/28 then you should be eligible.

I had obtained a PCO during my order but was told couldn’t be used because was not active at time truck was ordered in my name and expired before delivery. Some were able to get mid order PCO honored so hopefully they can chime in on how to help.

That is a shocker - dealer should have figured that out when you took delivery. The terms seem pretty clear, delivery by 10/4 - so that is not in your favor - even though it is not your fault. The dealer on the other had sold you the truck, you have a signed contract, they accepted the certificate, so likely on them to recover it - not on you.

Really gets down to is it worth the hassle to push back on the dealer? They did honor X-Plan, where many will not - so you did benefit there - if you are going to service with them, then your relationship value has to be considered over $2k.

I would ask to speak with the dealer GM or higher only to work it out. Be firm but friendly and see where you finish - maybe you pay the $2K, but think outside the box in what they give you in return - for example maybe they agree to sell you parts at cost until your $2k in parts discounts going forward is received (you pay cost on all parts until you get your $2k back) - something that allows them to not lose and you to get the value of the $2k. But don't spend to much time or angst on it - not worth it for such a small sum.

Good luck getting resolved and a favorable outcome.

If you have all your paperwork signed and there’s nothing in there saying you owe them the $2k or they some how have it worded pending the PCO going through I would tell them it’s their fault and to pound sand.

You placed the order before the PCO expired and it sounds like Ford even says they applied it. Sounds like they’re trying to be shady and/or get extra money from you.

Sounds like this may be a dealer to avoid in the future.

It says either place an order or take delivery by 10/4/21. It seems he should get the PCO to me. That dealer is screwing with you IMO.

You did not read the entire sentence you quoted: "Place order or take new retail delivery from an authorized Ford or Lincoln Dealer's stock by 10/4/21." He meets that requirement.

It sounds like Ford has applied the PCO, and the dealer is trying to hit their December revenue numbers (since it is the end of the month). You've already signed all of the documents and paperwork. They have no legal claim to the additional $2k. At this point, they're down to "pretty please".

If you're afraid this will damage your relationship with the dealer, and you like them, maybe you can meet half-way. I almost choke on the words suggesting that, because if it were me, I'd tell them to fuck themselves and find a new dealer.

You’re the man! Can you send me a revised statement? I know xplan is not on there yet. But just to see it. That would be epic.

Seeing if you had time to make a phone call for my personal cash offer!

@Vermonster I was just going to ask regarding when you informed them that you had the PCO, that was the only other loophole I could think of. Looks like you should be covered, imo. @Supercup has some good ideas... You could also have a conference call with you, Ford Sales and Mkt, and the dealer. As long as Ford recognizes it and the dealer is made whole there shouldn't be an issue. You may have to help "connect the dots" for them, though. Many times the dealer won't put the legwork in and will default to the path of least resistance...

I always hear that a PCO has to be applied either at time of order or at time of delivery. It can not be applied properly, though the system, in between the two dates.

If applied at time of order, the expiration date doesn’t matter as much, in other words your delivery can happen past the PCO expiration date.

if applied during the delivery, it has to be within the date range specified on PCO, not expired.

This is a general feedback i received from the community. Some were lucky enough enough to apply expired PCOs and others with help from Ford regional reps were able to apply PCOs in between order date and delivery date. So there are exceptions in the process.

So to catch me up, You took delivery of your new Tremor and now they want to charge you an additional $2,000.00?????

Or
did you not take delivery of the new beast.????

Putting my amateur attorney hat on: You seem to have met the conditions for the PCO and Ford is saying it was applied. Regardless of how you're paying for the vehicle (cash, Ford Finance, Third Part Finance), I am not sure the dealer can do anything.

I suppose the way you can respond depends on how the dealer is acting (nice or not nice), and how many brews you have had...

Funny thought: Did the dealer give you one of those "We Owe" slips with "Nothing" written on it? Maybe you give that back to them with your name at the top and the dealer's name at the bottom :).

If you already took delivery and the paper work was signed and you gave them a check and got keys then its not your problem. They can write off the loss on this sale, it is the least they can do for you with that long wait.

Plus what if you had a financing or lease program now you have to out of pocket 2k or refinance it????????

Thanks guys - I am about to call the owner and see where this goes. I do have the truck already - I did sign the "we owe" thing and there was nothing there. The salesman is the one who I shared the email dialog from on here (post 11) and the GSM is the one that called me. Now I am going to reach out to the owner. I do value this dealer and they have been great to me until this snafu. They still need to do the winch and get me my missing trailer TPMS/Camera.
