Dealer sold truck from under me... Looking for built Tremor

They were also buying my 2013 Roush Raptor and knew the wire transfer was coming. I had complete open and honest communication with them, offered a deposit, and essentially they used my deal as leverage to squeeze someone else for money.....

If you negotiated a price, it should be on paper
including a deposit to hold the vehicle.
If there was no deposit on a vehicle then there
was no structured agreement on the selling
price and no deal was made.
There is no reason a dealer will hold a vehicle on
the assumption a customer plans on buying it.

We had a bilateral contract in writing through text message... It included an offer (Price for their truck and price to purchase mine), consideration, capacity to contract, and acceptance. They had the 10-day payoff and were supposed to paying off my raptor as well. This was not a fly-by-night offer and acceptance.

don't think you will find too many used ones already built up- thats rare, and on a rare truck, I have a hard enough time finding a tremor at a dealer near me. maybe when the 2022s start coming out- will see some used ones. I was on the phone with a dealer hashing out numbers and we came to an "agreement" and I asked him to check the doorjamb sticker- he went to go look, and when he called me back said it was gone, another salesman had a deal already in the works and sold it- another time, I'm on the phone again (cause none are close to me)- trying to work a deal, and he says someone walked in and handed a check to the counter and bought it while we were talking. my point being- money talks- and until it hits, its not yours- cant even lick it. even if the salesman "promises" its means nothing unfortunately. especially in a large dealer with multiple sales agents. I had a dealer text me a picture to see if I liked something and by the time I called back a few hours later, it was gone- not sure what everyone else's is doing to make money, but the ford dealers in Georgia are getting full MSRP ( apparently) and people are walking in with bags of cash and snatching everything up. one dealer said he doesn't even have to try, people show up with blank bank checks, or just point and say that one, and sign whatever papers he puts in front of them and drive off. and these are all Platinum's and king ranches I'm looking at.

Afternoon. I had a deal worked out for a 2020 6.7 tremor that had the full carli package, deleted and tuned etc....The dealer decided to sell the truck even though wire transfer was scheduled already.. Anyone have a built tremor for sale? Thanks

Thank you. I was looking at that truck earlier today online as it's listed on eBay and a few other sites. He's a good 6-10K overpriced though.

Dealers have multiple sales reps and when it comes to inventory, usually nobody is able to claim "dibs" on a unit in general stock unless they have a signed agreement and cash in hand. All's fair in the car sales arena. Good luck finding one built and available in good condition. That's why most of the ones on this forum were special ordered.

It's a brother team that runs the place so no excuse if the left-hand cant communicate with the right hand. Again I offered to make a deposit but because they were also purchasing my raptor they said it wasn't necessary. Built to me isn't special ordered it's one that's been modified with a Carli/king or Icon lift kits, Innov8 wheels in 17 or 18 inch with 38's, tuned/deleted and so on. Something that not the average Joe has/wants

I feel your pain, my friend.

It is aggravating, but not surprising. Based on your description of the truck, the odds of any deal going through was close to zero to begin with. When you said deleted/tuned, I immediately thought you were in Canada, and that the dealership is pretty un-Canadian. But no... You're not Canadian. The dealership was openly selling something out of EPA compliance. That is asking for HUGE trouble from the feds. Also, the fact that they are selling a deleted truck pretty much shows how flagrantly unscrupulous they can be as a licensed dealership, and unfortunately, they demonstrated it to your face. It's a completely different ballgame than being a one-off private seller offloading a deleted truck.

I wish you the best of luck finding another Tremor, though. I really do. These are amazing trucks.

I was just thinking the same when reading this post, a “dealer” that openly advertises a deleted and tuned truck would be an instant flag. Makes me wonder if this truck isn’t a hook just to get a customer in the door.

Dealers can't sell deleted trucks in this state. In fact I believe it is a Federal violation. But I am not a lawyer.

Hope you find a truck soon! and Its a bummer that you had something worked out then have it fall apart. I really hate how the banks hold your title hostage for weeks.

Agree about the "Deleted" comments above. You aren't going to find a 6.7 deleted 2020+ Tremor at a reputable dealer. They won't delete one themselves, they likely won't take one on trade, and if they do, they will likely push it through auction or a second/third tier used dealer willing to accept the associated risks.

Getting a new truck deleted in today's environment is a DIY/Cash Under the Table type of thing, and you're probably going to have to get it done after purchase. I know it sounds like we are a bunch of old geezers (we're not), but look up how heavy-handed the EPA and current administration have been thus far with these companies. Anyone selling products or services for diesel emissions bypass already has a target on their back, whether they know it or not.

that's BS but unless it's written on paper it's not a real contract. Should have insisted on putting a deposit and getting a receipt.

I bet since there was no deal actually written up for it, nor SOLD tag placed on the truck, someone strolled in and threw money at it and the sales guy had no idea about your text "contract" so it got sold.

Maybe or maybe not shady, but lesson learned. everything on paper.

tampering with emission systems is definitely federally illegal but whether or not states are allowed to sell them is probably up to state law. Like if a dealer came into possession of an already deleted truck, could he sell it? Maybe depending on state law......Regardless, if the dealer is the one who deleted the emissions components, they've committed a federal crime.
