Must watch video. It's not just for the Tremor, but most likely could come to all of the Ford line.

What's your take on this?

More big brother watching us, just what we don’t need.

Yep....crawl under a table....quick!

It's always in the name of "population safety"....I'm skeptical

Sounds like pre-2026 vehicles just went up in value. lol. The "black box" stuff has been going on for years. My 2006 Tacoma had it. Transmitting that data to law enforcement is new. Why not mine the data from cell phones. Oh wait....

Buckle up, your vehicle has you under surveillance

Another Shock Jock is all I see.

Welcome to the real world of 5G and 6G. This is nothing new, this guy's small thinking take on it, is "big brother is watching", but the reality is that this technology is going in everywhere and you can't stop it. Anyone can construe this in the direction they want for entertainment fodder, and all is perhaps somewhat true. The need for it is always questionable and monitoring it for a specific cause, would almost have to be incident specific.

Soon, AI (real AI, not the BS fed to you by mainstream sources) will be able to cipher what it sees, and report based on an algorithm. I'm sure it doesn't care about the other billion cars on the road, while constantly monitoring people driving Tessla and Prius to see where they're going. (A little sarcasm there)

5G is instruments talking to instruments and is available now (and even more in the future) in ALL devices, not just vehicles. This is how the future communications will propagate so you don't necessarily have to be close to a tower, a chain of vehicles, buildings, radio towers, phones, etc., will transmit the signals. All of this happens literally at light speed, and no one will know the difference.

As the guy points out, using this as a legal battle would be just that, a battle. Relax.

I can tell you from another brand this isn't new by any means. My wife's BMW was involved in a pretty bad accident. At some point BMW called her to ask a few questions towards the whole product development area or accident prevention/protection. The BMW rep made mention they (BMW) had the accident in-time up to the point of impact. They could not release the images/video to us was a point she made quite clear Additionally at some point in the conversation the BMW rep stated she could see the vehicle was parked in a salvage auction lot with other vehicles.

So....don't expect Ford to do anything less.

Eh. Ford can't even master sending SYNC updates via full coverage gigabit fiber while stationary. So, no, not really too worried. 😄

Whatever......Police can't even make priority calls, much less go looking for a speeding vehicle. Yes, this type of tech is concerning.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here. Perhaps Ford is actually on our side here? They could be patenting the technology to prevent others from implementing it across the board. If Ford holds the patent no one else can use the system.

Also, if they do implement this system, at least in CA, you can fight the ticket every time. CA has laws basically stating that the siting office has be to able to appear in court. It's the same laws that more or less removed all the speed cameras in CA about 10 years ago.

Patents are subject to eminent domain. If the government wants it, they can just take it. Kill switches are coming in 2026. Another violation will come after that as well.
Big companies will do almost anything to stay in favor of regulatory agencies. However, we are talking about a computer. I think the spying over-reach will create a market for privacy. The thread poll indicates that we will defeat this crap.

I can't get too excited about this because it's already happening:
  • if you use a toll road, they know the entry time, exit time, distance driven; not that difficult to calculate speed from that
  • get a speeding ticket, you will get letters from lawyers about how they can represent you in court
  • having a general conversation, SIRI/Alexa will butt in - "sorry i didn't catch that"
Like he said, the law is already passed, the auto makers are obligated to comply. We got caught asleep at the wheel.

if only they could use that tech for a good use. Farr too many times, 10-15 seconds (or longer) after the light turns green, the car in front of me is still stopped. the system should start moving the vehicles forward the moment the light turns green. the system should apply breaks to the cross traffic.

It's just a matter of time before auto manufacturers start selling this data to insurance companies. They probably already are.
