Cold air intake 7.3 gas

Has anybody put a cold air intake on a 7.3 gas engine yet? Any noticeable difference in performance or sound? Or do you feel it’s just a waste of money.? Any particular brand if you like what you have?

Waste of money. These trucks have a pretty free flowing intake already from the factory

OR... you can fab up you own snorkel (forward to 4:15 minutes)

I have the AFe momentum cold air intake. There is a drastic difference in sound. I never once heard stock intake this one you hear a wwhistle when you get on it at all speeds. I did both the CAI and a stainless works exhaust at the same time so hard to say if you gain any performance. After this combo I felt throttle response was slightly improved.

This guys shop is right around the corner from me. He makes some nice roof racks. Also I think he owns Exile 4x4 which makes tire inflation/deflation systems.

Custom tune is needed to make those mods really perform. Otherwise sound and maybe a little throttle response is about all you get.

Thats what ive read also...I've been looking into the livernois custom tune. Does anyone have experience with that company or feedback?

I don’t. I have a bully dog tuner from five star that is for sale if your interested

I have worked with Livernois for years. Standup place... I don't have experience with them on my truck, but in general would not hesitate to use them if the need arose.

Thanks for the input. I've read alot of reviews on 5 star and they seem to be hit and miss. I've read up quite a bit on livernois and feel I may give them a shot. They have a decent price as well at $599 for the tuner and tunes.

When I had a Mustang I used them a few times + more than I can count for work. They are local to me too which is a plus...
