I recently installed a kryptonite, death, grip track bar. It slid in the frame mounted bracket a lot easier then any I have installed before. The problem is I can’t seem to get the thing from making noise like metal on metal when the noise of the truck dives over a good bump. It was originally torqued to spec. Today I torqued it to about 600 foot pounds and it’s still making noise. Now it only does it on a hard dive. What’s a good one for about a stock ride height truck? I was looking at Carli but they’re only for lifted trucks. PMF TRACK bar any good? Thanks in advance!

Completely stock or leveled? I'm running an Icon track bar. Heavy duty compared to stock.

I run all PMF steering components and while they have been great and have held up with the use I give them, they still make that steel scraping noise you speak about.

The bar scrapes the bottom engine frame mount when you go over bumps; I don't let it bother me any longer.

I got 60K out of my first track bar and my rig sees lots of off-road use on a constant basis.

My rig is not just your standard weekend adventurer; it is used daily for land surveying in Arizona and sees off-road environments pretty much on a daily basis.

The trac bar was put on roughly 10K ago; the '22 has 73K.

I also use PMF and our other older SD's and once again, no complaints.

Solid components and would use them again, eyes closed.

By the way, Trevor, owner of PMF is a stand up guy.

He's local and we love to support local businesses just as he now supports our business for his land surveying needs.

I forgot to mention he makes two as far as I can remember:

Stock to 2.5"

Stock to 4.5"

The bracket you speak of, the one in between the frame rails just behind and above the track bar? It’s that typical for pmf or is it the conditions you put your truck through?

I've only noticed it with PMF and I suspect it is because they use a thicker steel bar in diameter.

Now that you mention Kryptonite, I suspect when you go to these HD components, it may become the norm.

I've ran the ICON stuff on our older SD and even on the '22MY in the beginning and I did not notice said noise.

I vaguely remember someone commenting on the same thing with APEX stuff but don't hold me on that.

For a stock ride truck?

So i got to ask then, what exactly is wrong with the oem track bar if it is used on a stock truck, why switch it out period?

Yes, some aftermarket ones are “beefier”, but what do you need that beef for exactly?

I remember Dave from One Up Offroad talking about all these metal on metal heim joints being completely unnecessary clunkers. I tend to agree with him after my carli track be would just not stop clunking - complete crap.

For one, they are heavy duty.

Stock is standard duty.

I'm not sure of the OP use but a stock truck can very well be used in HD applications.

For folks who run only pavement, it may be all you need if you're stock.

The clunk noise was addressed. It does not affect the performance of the bar.

I did not know Carli made their own trac bar?

If i learned anything from 4 years on a forum, is that folks will go to great lengths to convince themselves that a heavy duty track bar is not really heavy duty enough when there are heavier duty track bars available for purchase😉

Yes, carli makes one and it’s a clunker. And then the Carli crew will tell you that all that metal on metal is completely normal. That’s what OUO Dave was laughing at, and for a good reason.

So what would you use for a leveled truck?

Thanks for the info 👍

I had a drivers side lean, so I installed OUO coil levelers. And that caused my axle to be off center.

The only convincing I need is that the current PMF HD trac bar outlasted OEM by 6 times.

A pavement princess wouldn't need to be concerned about that.

You already have OUO levelers, give S&B a call maybe that OUO bar is good on a stock tremor too. I’m almost certain it won’t have any clunking like all this extra heavy duty metal on metal stuff.

Had the same thing happen when I installed the OUO levelers. Mines off center by 1/2” or maybe even 3/4”Thought about an adjustable track bar but it’s too small of a variance for me to worry about it. That said, totally understand why you want to get it perfect….personally I just got tired of swapping things out :D
