Didn’t know where to post this but it’s a problem for me so I figured I’d ask here. How the hell do I disable this damn auto shut off on my 22 250? I’ve clicked the box in my settings but it doesn’t change anything. My job requires me to work in and out of my truck and when it’s 100 degrees out I want to be able to get back in and my ac be running.
Thanks

I think you people are talking about multiple things. He is not talking about the start / stop feature, which is not even on the F250 trucks as far as I am aware, he is talking about Automatic Engine Shutdown. You should be able to go into Settings / Vehicle and uncheck the box next to Auto Engine Shutdown. I believe you only have to do this one time.

Google Ford Automatic shut down and the instruction pops up.

You can temporarily disable the Automatic Engine Shutdown feature by using the vehicle's SYNC® 3 touchscreen or the information display depending on your SYNC 3 software version.

Note: You cannot permanently switch off the Automatic Engine Shutdown feature. When you switch it off temporarily, it turns on the next time you start your vehicle.

This must only be for the 7.3L, as my 6.7L never shuts off at lights.

On my Gen 2 Raptor, I had them turn it off with the MPT tune, so you can always go that route if you are planning to tune it.

EDIT: Oops, it looks like he is talking about how long the truck will run when idling.

A very simple fix on my Ford and my Jeep. Plug and play wire at. https://www.autostopeliminator.com/

This company sells them. You connect it to the start stop disable switch so basically it pushes the button for you instead of you having to push it everytime.

Bingo, @SVT4X4. Auto Stop Eliminator is to disable auto stop/start. That’s the feature where the engine shuts off when you come to a stop (say at a red light) and then turns back on when you release the brake to save on fuel.

Super Duty trucks do not have this feature currently, so Auto Stop Eliminator is both incompatible and unnecessary.

I wasn't even aware they had an auto shutdown. Is this just on the diesel due to emissions or does the gas motor do it as well. How long will it idle before shutting down?

I don’t know if it works yet for the 22s but it can be done in forscan. You can also install a high idle switch and idle it up slightly and it won’t shut off. @Nick@ApolloOptics sells a nice high idle switch that is plug and play.
Honestly, this is a great idea. Especially if doing heavy idling on a diesel, idling at 1200rpm vs 700-800rpm which help avoid soot build-up in the intake manifold and throttle body valve on the EGR.

I believe they all do it after 15 minutes of idling. The 2018 Raptor used to do it and my 2019 SD does it if it's not in high idle.

You got me curious so I looked in the manual. I have an old school key on my xlt so it doesnt auto shut down it appears.

Automatic Engine Shutdown
If your vehicle has a keyless ignition, it has a feature that shuts down the engine if it has been idling for an extended period of time. The ignition also turns off in order to save battery power. Before the engine shuts down, a message appears in the information display showing a timer counting down from 30 seconds. If you do not intervene within 30 seconds, the engine shuts down. Another message appears in the information display to inform you that the engine has shut down in order to save fuel. Start your vehicle as you normally do.

I think you can go into Tools and setting to give it more time before shut off or turn it off completely.
