Greetings all. I am posting a thread from FTE as this is something I have been chasing for months. We can finally enjoy, for those that like it, auto hold braking. I have confirmed this on my 24 Plat/Trem 6.7. A huge kudos to rpaldrich as he is the one that appears to have found the final link in ABS as-built to get this working.

I would expect this to work on the 2023's but as with anything Forscan, make a full backup of your APIM, IPC and ABS as-builts prior to making any changes.

As I noted in my post on FTE, after making the Forscan changes, you will need to hit the configuration "features" on your infotainment screen to tick the option to the right to enable. From there it is all icing so far. I have tested all over with this and it works. My next test will be with trailers to see if it works in all modes there too.

Changes:

Plain language:
APIM: Auto hold enable
IPC: Auto hold enable

As built:
ABS 760 03 01: *xxx - xxxx-xx change to 3 (original value on mine was a 2)

Worked like a charm on my 24. Great find for sure.

I need to find someone local to do this haha.

If you have a laptop, the cable and a cell phone with a hotspot I will be more than happy to remote connect and hook you up. You don't even have to purchase Forscan, I can work around that.

Or, if you ever come through Tucson I'd be happy to meet up and help you out that way.

Thanks so much, I just picked up my 24 and I was hoping extremely it had hold brakes. Thanks!!

I might have to take you up on this.

More than happy to do so. Just dm me and we can set something up. There are quite a few conveniences changes available, and we can make any that suit your fancy.

I want this, I miss it from my F150

Here are a few caveats I've noticed so far:

1. In order to enable or disable, you need to have your seatbelt on, otherwise it is greyed out.
2. Seatbelt also has to be on, while in drive, for the brake hold to activate. Otherwise, there will be a slash through the icon on the panel.
3. This does not work in reverse and is intended to per the manual on the F-150s. I am sure there is a setting that disables this and now my search starts anew.
4. When parked and shifter in park, you place your foot on brake to shift out of park, until you press the gas the hold is activated so long as your seatbelt is on.

I am sure there are more, and I will post as I find them.

I don't have the option in my features tab. Does it show up after you do the Forscan changes you mention?

So what is the benefit?
If you need to stop at a light (or in stop in go traffic, etc) you can take your foot off of the brake pedal and the truck keeps the brake engaged until you press the accel pedal.

This is pure laziness, is it that difficult to keep your foot on the brake like we’ve done the previous 69 or so years 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I don't have it on my 22 and, thankfully, don't have a work commute any longer. I have used it on other vehicles and at times it can be quite nice - like if you are stuck in construction traffic or an accident a few miles ahead. Both are common occurrences around here, btw.

It's certainly not necessary, but neither are cruise control, abs, auto locking hubs, heated steering wheel, heated/cooled seats, etc.

Half the features in modern vehicles could rightly be classified as laziness. I am sure folks have said that when people wanted to move from a standard transmission to an automatic or from regular steering to power steering. Hell, even going from turning the key to push button start is on the laziness spectrum. While on the topic of laziness, driving a vehicle half a mile to a store to pick up a few groceries rather than walking might be considered laziness to some. Maybe electric windows would be considered laziness over the old style. Electric seats most assuredly are a lazy man's way to adjust how comfortable he is.

Really, wouldn't anything listed as convenience be nothing but a synonym for laziness? How is auto-hold any different than putting a standard vehicle in neutral so you can lift your foot off the clutch at a red light? Maybe you are the type that did keep his foot on the clutch and the brake, that is fine, but if that makes me or anyone else that does this lazy, well, I wear that badge with honor then.

I get it, I guess it’s more of another feature that they can charge a little more thus continuing to drive vehicle costs up. I know a lot of people like that gadgets and technology but I miss the more simple days of vehicles and being more connected to the driving experience.

Oh you are not wrong there. That is why I dive so much into Forscan. Ford and their stealers will charge you a mint to turn on features that are already on the truck but just "disabled" via a software switch. Plus, for me, it is a huge hexadecimal game of sudoku in a sense. Not to mention a enormous time sink.
