ATV's 2022 Carbonized Grey F-250 Tremor Build - TX

Well ladies and gentlemen the wait is finally over for me. I picked up my 2022 Ford F-250 Lariat Tremor (still to be named) in Carbonized Grey yesterday (6 Aug 2021) here in Fort Worth, TX after ordering it back in March of 2021. It got here a lot quicker than I thought it would so I am happy about that for sure. I was hoping for November realistically and I would have been happy. So it looks like chances are @soop will be owing @MrMallerd whatever it is the bet they had was. (You're welcome everyone for stirring that pot again) That said, now its time for @Vermonster to see some movement on his! Everyone do you 2022 Tremor dance tonight for him. Don't send videos. Not even @Iron Man wants to see that! Haha seriously I love this forum and I can't wait to keep spending way too much time on it and thus way too much money on my truck so thank you all and every one of y'all is the best.

So now on to the truck. I will post some before pictures below this first thread as well as my window sticker. I am going to use this build thread mostly as a reference guide for me for all I have done instead of this janky iphone note I currently have and I will also be posting links to the stuff I buy for you on edification but also again mostly for my records. These people aren't paying me to do this nor do they even know I am doing this. So read it or don't, won't hurt my feelings.

Up first a few notes on the 2022 that I have noticed. First, my ford pass will not activate the vehicle so that is fun. I am hoping the app will update and it will be good but more importantly I am hoping the dealer doesn't have to go mess with the modem at all. Anyone else have trouble with that? Second, unless I am really stupid and can't find it, the cup holders in my 2022 no longer have ambient lights in them. Additionally the headrests I have only go up and down, I know there was some debate or discussion on that with the 2021s.

So on to the upgrades/additions/accessories/whatever you want to call them. I have a long list piling up and some stuff that was already here waiting on the truck. I will take pictures of most of it but if you are curious on any of it let me know and I will throw it up on here no problem. I have already added the tuffskins glove box inlay letters in matte black, tactilian American flag valve stem covers, a center console organizer, a shorter antenna I got off amazon and a sweet car seat for my son (links below, minus the car seat). Additionally, I have a gas cap that @kmtweb made for me, just need to grab some gorilla glue double sided tape or a 3M strip to throw that on. I did make a mistake and order a screen protector I assumed would fit (it fits a 150) and it does not fit my 250 so let me know if y'all find one. Finally, the last upgrade I will talk about in this first post is on the 16th of August I will be dropping my Tremor off at the XPEL place in Dallas to have a full body XPEL stealth PPF installed as well as a full body ceramic coat and their prime XR plus tint put on all the passenger windows, the back window, the windshield and the sunroof. So I will be sure to put up pictures after that.

I have probably written more than enough on this first post. I am sure no one is still reading, shoot I don't even think I am. If you haven't noticed I am long winded. Ambient lighting requires the Ultimate package, so if you didn't get that (and it doesn't sound like you did) then you wouldn't have the lighting.

As for the headrests, sometime around the beginning of March this year Ford stopped including the tilt headrests in Lariat and lower. They only come on King Ranch or higher trims. If you want to buy them from Ford, @bigbully found the part numbers:

Couldn't get any help from the local dealer and after a ton of research I still wasn't 100% sure on the correct part numbers. I decided to take a chance anyway and ordered new headrests and covers.

They arrived today and I can confirm that these are the correct part #s for tilting headrest for a Lariat with black (ebony) leather:
headrests - JL3Z-96611A08-A
headrest covers - KL3Z-18610A62-EB

However, I can't say they are completely worth the price tag (~$208 plus shipping from Fairway Ford). They only made a slight improvement in clearance from the non-tilting version, but I'm happy to have them.

Many have indicated that their trucks ambient lighting was turned off when the truck arrived, as mine were. On the 2021 I have to go onto the "Settings" tab on the Sync screen and then go into "Vehicle" and then scroll down to "Ambient Lighting". In that screen I had to turn on the ambient lighting.

So is there really no ambient lighting?

To clarify there is ambient lighting in the foot wells and in parts of the doors and in a few center console spots and you can adjust the brightness. But you cannot change the colors and there is no ambient lightning in my cup holders.

BTW don't panic too much. By using ForScan there's a ton of stuff that can be turned on or off, or sometimes function modified. I've been digging into ForScan and found a ton of stuff that can be changed.

Good callout! Though to clarify: based on my research the color changing bit is an actual hardware change. The LEDs are no longer RGB, but a fixed color, so nothing you can do in ForScan will change that.

Man, Ford’s inverse nickel & diming us on features is getting old quick. Every year they cut out basic features to save themselves a buck. Combined with an up charge for a garage door opener on a $70k Lariat Ultimate…. Good grief. Wonder what they shave off next year. End rant.

Is it behind the license plate? Can see if it’s installed or not. Either way, I just wanted to make sure you at least got what you paid for.

Thanks! Negative winch isn’t installed yet. For some reason that is a dealer install, not a factory install. The winch arrived before my truck did but I’m waiting on my dealer to schedule me to have it installed. Could have done it myself but theoretically I already paid for it to be installed and in reality I’m just being lazy. I’ll be sure to throw up pictures of that. I’m hoping it’s installed next week.

Just got the truck back yesterday from the dealer after the installed the winch and blacked out the only little bit of chrome on the entire truck which was the tailgate handle. I’m still not entirely sure why that’s not blacked out for the black appearance package. But it looks and operates great! I’m grateful for my dealer! Now it’s time to research how I want to mount the license plate on the front…open to suggestions.

But next up it goes to XPEL on Monday for the XPEL Stealth PPF, ceramic coat and window tint. Hopefully they will take some higher quality pictures than me haha. Sorry for anyone looking I know mine are crappy. But below are pictures of the winch, tailgate blacked out and after I put the box link tie downs in which weren’t installed when I bought it. Although I’m thinking of putting some of the MOLLE style racks in the bed. Along the sides.

To be honest with you they had their “aftermarket” guys do it and my winch who are much more qualified than service for something like that but what it really means is they took it to a local shop to do it. Wrapped it I'm pretty sure if my best guess but it came out looking exactly like the rest of the pieces on the truck that are blacked out. When it’s not stupid hot outside I’ll go look at it more and confirm for you.
