Looking for ground to step & step to floorboard (sill plate) measurements for both setups.

Been told that the PowerStep XL with the separate ”rock rail” housing allows for up to 15 inches of drop.

Also been told the regular PowerStep version allows for approximately 9 inches of drop.

My stock 2021 F250 Tremor is approximately 30 inches from my garage floor to the floorboard (sill plate).

This would lead me to believe the PowerStep XL is the optimal fit splitting the distance equally (15”+15”) from the ground to the floorboard.

But would like to get confirmation from those who already have each system installed on their stock tire & suspension F250 or F350 Tremors.

Appreciate the friendly feedback.

Regular power steps for me. If my 2 year old can make it in I don’t see the need for the extra drop.

Ok 🙄 … can your 2 year old also run your tape measure and get me some measurements ?

I opted for the factory power running boards, they appear very similar to the Amp Research, perhaps made them for Ford. I measured anyhow, my truck also sits 30 inches to the sill, the step sits approximately 14" from step to sill, approximately 16" step top to ground. Truck is stock 6.7, added diamond back cover. Hope this helps.

Thank You … very helpful … much appreciated.

Just spoke to Amp Research Customer Service and they relayed this for a 2021 F-250 (Tremor included):

PowerStep: 13.5 inches of drop from the truck sill plate to the fully extended step surface.

PowerStep XL: 16.5 inches of drop from the truck sill plate to the fully extended step surface.

Being that my 2021 F-250 is 30 inches from the sill plate to the ground, neither option centers the steps when fully extended.

Really interested to see if those with these two different options installed can prove the manufacturer correct … or incorrect.

I looked at both the Amp Powerstep and the XL version. For me the regular one is more than enough to get in and out of the truck. The biggest issue I had with the XL is that the whole step does not disappear under the truck. Because of the need for more drop, there is a larger "box" which holds the step and that extends permanently out from the bottom of the truck.

I opted for the RBP(Rolling Big Power) RBP-308-SP-XD extended drop, black. I like these over the stock powered running boards. I was going to sell the RBP's when I bought the truck, I had them left over from my raptor, but installed them because I like the form fit function better. they extend down an extra couple inches over the stock powered running boards and seem to be further out and more level when they do drop out. and they tuck up nicely when in the stowed away.

Here's a couple pictures (stowed, extended, extended protrusion):

here's a link to the units. fairly easy to install and wire up, and they have LED lighting that shines on the steps. they do have their name on the bottom of the steps but its in black so you really can't see it. the black paint for the step is somewhat textured so it's pretty nonslip. I would reommend these as a solid option if you were looking for another option:

So you do not trust what the factory tells you and need others to measure & confirm what you are told by the company.

How do you know you can trust the measurements you get over the internet?

Did you ask if they supply the OEM boards?

Why do you have to have the boards centered exactly in the middle between the ground and the truck?

Is not that distance also dependent on tire size as well as load/springs & other factors?

If you re-read my original post I specifically requested measurements from stock tire and suspension F250 & F350 Tremors.

I did however get the measurements today with pictures of tape measures from totally stock F250 Tremor owners.

There are still some cool & helpful people out there … that don’t respond with questions hoping to sound intelligent.

I’m sorry, I do not understand why you trust somebody on the internet to measure what you want instead of trusting the engineers who designed and developed the boards

Guess it just goes to prove you can not trust engineers

Oh and thanks for the snide compliment, coming from a engineer it’s a great compliment

Would you mind measuring from sill plate to step like he did above
“PowerStep XL: 16.5 inches of drop from the truck sill plate to the fully extended step surface.”
so we can compare against the exact measure like the Amp XL one? Thank you
