Good afternoon:

I put new wheels on my truck last week. Long story short, I had Discount Tire put their TPMS sensors in the wheels. I didn't think I would have time to get OEM sensors delivered in time to have installed before taking vacation here next week. The sensors are garbage, they are off roughly 10-15 psi per tire and vary even more when going down the road and warming the tires up. I ordered OEM sensors and got them today and was told by Discount Tire that only the dealer can program them to the PCM. I am calling BS but wanted to ask you all. My buddy has a pretty high tech Snap On scanner and thought about trying it that way.

I'd have to ask my guy at the local DT. I will say they have never had any issues with TPMS sensors on my '22. Not sure how/why someone thinks a "special" calibration is required for "new" TPMS sensors.

Now did DT make sure the ones they installed were the correct Hz to use with your truck??

I ordered factory TPMS sensors and handed them to the tire shop when I had the tires mounted to the wheels. Took them home, threw them on the truck, and it picked them up automatically. Never had to do anything. Tire shop never touched my truck.

That I am not sure of. He wasn’t very pleasant on the phone, I asked for a refund on the 4 they put in when they swap my oem sensors in - he said well we can’t just refund a working a part. I said well it’s not accurately working.

I'd call Corporate. They won't let that slide.

I had Discount tire put in their TPMS sensors. I have a 4 tire inflator and have them all at 50 psi. They all read 5-6psi high but they have all been equalized at 50 and all my gauges agree. My Ford ones were always dead nuts once the tire sensors woke up. I complained and they said they would look at them at my first rotation and check them against their gauges. One good thing is there is no light. Not sure when it comes on though.

Sorry I should have clarified my 10-15 off! That is exactly how mine are. Cold pressure is off 10-15 then that goes down to 7-8 when driving. I haven’t had a light yet because I haven’t had a chance to take pressure out of them. They set the fronts to 65 and rears to 70. I plan to run 55 front and 60 rear. I still think 7-8 off once hot is an issue as well as the cold pressure.

Well DT put the new Motorcraft sensors in and refunded me $352.96 for the sensors. They called half way through and said sir these sensors are working just fine now, they weren't programmed correctly. I said throw the OEM ones in anyway and refund me.

Hoping on my drive home, they relearn themselves or I will be doing the hazard light methodology.
