7.3l Bad mpg

Am I the only one that’s getting bad MPG out of my 2021 tremor ? At best I’m getting 10.3mpg with a 7.3 gas 4.30 gear
Did you expect more. I’m really pleased with my average of 12 in town. Both hand calc and computer are matching. I’m just glad it’s not single digits. I am disappointed the tank is so small though.

Yep. Need context.

10mpg on a flat, open highway while unloaded? Bad.

10mpg in town while towing? Great!

Etc.

What did you expect, this is a big block V8 with 4.30 gears and 35" All Terrains?

As others have said, it's all relative. My current F-150 gets about 21 MPG highway (great), it dips into the single digits when towing (horrible). Driving my buddies Tremor with the 7.3 to Washington towing my boat, we got 12 MPG whether the boat was back there or not. I consider that to be great mileage for towing.

Swap out the front and rear gearing with something a bit less aggressive, say 3.73 and your mpg will perk right up - significantly.
The fact is, if you're not rock crawling or towing a toy hauler frequently, you're going to see significant improvement in 95% of your daily use experiences.

I stopped watching the fuel economy screen and now I hardly think about it. Switched the display to digital speedometer and tire pressures now that temp is cooling off in my area. Much easier not having the reminder up there. With that, I’m about 11-12 in town and 15-16 on country roads and thruway. If I’m hard on the throttle those fall fast 😂.

Drove around a few days in eco, average 13.5 I think. Town. Eco mode feels like great grandpa mode, (GGM for short) I can enjoy it to an extent- kind of relaxes me to a certain extent. Like I’m not in a hurry… because I can’t be in a hurry in GGM. And shifting is smooth and easy.

Normal mode I average 12.3 in the same routes and driving habits

That’s funny you say that, when I try to “cruise” I go eco mode. Until I see a gmc or Toyota then it’s tow sport mode. I don’t usually stay eco mode for very long.

I was getting about 18-19 MPGs (computer) today. Was driving on a state highway with lights and interstate. About 12 lights between my house and office. Got lucky and had green most of the way.

With the 7.3? Or 6.7? Those sound like diesel numbers, otherwise that very impressive mileage for the 7.3.
