7.3 oil change interval

16000 km is what the owners manual says for the first oil change??? Who agrees with this??? I made it to 8000 kilometers but I can't bring myself to do another 8000.

I say 8, which for US is 5,000 miles. That is what I plan on.

I did first one at 4000, remainder will be @ 5000 miles. I feel oil is a cheap maintenance.

I did my first one at 2000, next one will be 7500 or so. I usually change it when the oil life is at 30%.

I agree with oil changes being cheap maintenance. Five thousand for me with quality oil.

Filter change and top off at 1000 miles, then oil and filter change every 5K after that. My planned useage is short errands, occasional heavy towing, plowing, and limited off-road use in the Summer/Fall seasons. If I were only using it for daily highway commuting, the interval would be closer to 10K.

It depends on the type & style of your driving. As, if you frequently go for a short drive in cold weather, drive in dusty places, or you do aggressive drive, you need to change oil at every 3k-4k mile's drive. But, in normal driving, you can change at every 7500-10,000 miles drive.

I'll go with every 5000 miles for a while, using full synthetic.

Having my oil analyzed each time, Starting at 5k mile interval. If the TBN and viscosity hold up, slowly increase the intervals until it hits a comfortable number.

Right now, I'm on 6,000 miles.

Using Castrol Edge 5W-30.

I just did my first change at 2400 miles, I plan on every 7500mi with full synthetic from here on out.
