F250 Super Duty Diesel
We just purchased a 2021 F250 Super Duty Diesel with a UTT Camera Pro Trlr Backup Assist ($1655). We assumed (incorrectly) that this is what we needed to pull a 5th wheel. After reading several of the posts here it appears that this will work if we buy two parts 1)the sensor (# 1c3z-14b296-b or LC3T-14G621-A [not sure which one is correct]) and 2) 7/12 pin trailer connector (can't find part#).

We've had the hitch installed with a 7 pin trailer connector plug installed inside the bed. But this is a single plug for the trailer. Is there dual plug one that has two 7 pin plugs, or does the sensor need a different plug? Can the new bed wiring which we had installed be replaced with the two plug unit?

Please help, we are neither truck nor electrically savy and need help. BTW the Ford dealer has less than no clue.

If you have the ultimate trailer backup assist it should have come with a dual port plug panel in the bed with both a 7 pin and 12 pin connector, as well as the 5th wheel yaw sensor in a bag in the cab, part number for that is LC3T-14G621-Ax where 'x' is a revision number, mine is D for a 2020.

The gooseneck prep package only comes with a single 7 pin connector in the bed so it sounds like something isn't right here with the order. You can still tow of course with the single 7 pin, but I'd be raising hell if I was missing items I paid for.

The trailer camera and/or TPMS sensors are a seperate package but still plug into the same 12 pin port in the bed and/or the bumper if you replace the bumper 7 pin with a dual 7 pin/12 pin. If you look at my post history I think I posted the part number somewhere, if not let me know the box is sitting in my garage still I can grab it.

You should have this book in your glovebox. It will have the install instructions and the stickers needed. I did not order the 5th wheel prep pack and I tow a conventional trailer. I did not receive any of the sensors or wires needed to run the 5th wheel option for the UTT pack. But I did get everything needed to run a conventional trailer with the UTT. Plenty of videos on YouTube with install instructions

Good picture of the plugs

Rather than learning all that new stuff, isn't it easier just to learn how to backup? My neighbor who bought a big fifth wheel who didn't have much backing experience came over and spent an hour with me and I had him backing like a pro.

I tried the trailer steering once, not for me, the trailer camera however is very handy on my toy hauler.

Thank you for responding. We have the UTT Camera Pro trlr Backup Assist but it came with neither a bed plug nor the sensor. The price we paid for it was $1,655. There is a higher priced package for $2,785, but the difference is the Trailer Tow High Capacity (which I believe is an axle and brake enhancement). So you are saying the UTT package should come with both the installed plug and the sensor? BTW I looked at the f350, and f450 options and they are all priced the same, so it is strange that they would have the plug and not the f250. I couldn't find that part number.

Yes that is what we received as well.

I still have yet to try the UTT. I’m looking forward to giving it try. I really hope it works. Would be nice to have someone other then myself able to drive and park the trailer. Since my wife has never backed a trailer up in her life. I figure if she learns with the UTT first, it will be easy for her to understand.

YAW sensor is just for a 5th wheel? I was checking out my trailer camera kit. Then started looking into setting up my backup assist. Came on here to ask the question and boom, here is the thread.

The manual says YAW sensor for 5th and gooseneck. Seems the bumper pull trailers just need to be setup with the sticker. And obviously don’t need the second plug. My camper is in the shop by I may try to setup my landscape trailer tomorrow. They give you enough for 10 trailers I think

Perfect. Thank you. Just found my guide with the stickers. Once the snow melts I’ll go get mine set up just to try. Didn’t plan on using it but if it’s a sticker and a few measurements, why not. Save my YAW sensor for when the wife decides we need to upgrade to a 5th wheel.

Wondering why I didn’t get a sensor. Wondering if it only came with the UTT if you also had 5th wheel prep package. ?

Did you order the 5th wheel prep package when you ordered the truck?
We bought the truck off the lot, and no it doesn't include the 5th wheel prep package. So you think the 5th wheel prep package has the sensor? When I look it up here is what it says "the Prep Package includes only the required vehicle substructure and pickup box-integrated 7-pin wiring connector". We had these installed with the hitch, by the vendor the Ford dealership suggested. Does your truck have this, and did it have the 7/12 plug in the bed or just the 7 pin plug for the trailer?

Is your truck a 2021 and does the Yaw Sensor have a part number on it? This is what I need, as well as the plug.

Yes 2021. Here is a pic of the instructions with part numbers. I can get a better pic when I get home. And one of the actual kit package.

Nothing in the bed. I’m just curious as to why I didn’t get sensor. I’ll be calling the dealer tomorrow.
