Hey Y'all,

So I was messing around online on Ford's build page... I was checking options with the Tremor package and seeing what all you could pick before it deletes the package. Well, it let me add the 3.55 gears but only if you were building a 250 and not a 350. Are 3.55 gears available or is that another thing messed up on their building page?

You can get that with the diesel motor but not the 7.3 gas. It does let u add it to the gas motor when building online but Ford changes once it’s submitted to them.

Interesting. Was thinking that could possibly be a good trade off for people that don't tow huge amounts of weight but still want to super duty Tremor with slightly increased MPG.

Simply changing to taller gears does not mean better mileage. A common myth. Once you drive the 7.3 and 10 speed combination, you'll see how perfect the gearing is with the 4.30 gears. It's the overall ratio that counts, not just the differential ratio.

The 10 speed has a .63 OD, and the 35" tires have a large circumference. The engine is turning at very low RPM while cruising on the highway, and it has to downshift to pull very hard. 3.55 would mean that 10th got used a lot less, so what's the point? The 4.30 gearing is perfect for the 7.3.

Going to 3.55 would also make 1st gear higher, and have less pulling power. First works very well as it is.

Your going to love the 3.55 great for towing and freeway

Should be 3.55 for the diesel and 4.30 for the gas, no options outside of that. The 4.30 works well with the 7.3 in tremor package, but it’s also the tremor package that is hurting MPG......larger tires, lift, reduced air dam all add to the reduced mileage. If you wanted to look outside of the tremor package I would consider the 7.3 with 3.73 gears, I think that would be a nice set up on a non tremor superduty. I have heard other 7.3 non tremor owners claiming 16-18 mpg but not sure if the had 3.73 or 3.55.
