Thank you for pointing out the excuse to get bigger and heavier toys. 3,200 extra pounds of capacity!Interesting! Conventional towing for the Tremor with the 7.3L is up from 15,000 pounds to 18,200. For fifth-wheel/gooseneck...I wonder if there's a typo?
Now, it's possible they changed the gas Tremor gear ratio; however, on the previous page for conventional towing, Tremor capacities are tied to 4.30 gears:
If there is no note pointing to a specific number for the Tremor, it would default to the standard option for gear ratio/engine comboI'm thinking they messed up with this guide... For the 250, they don't even have the Tremor package listed for the 7.3, only the 6.7HO... definitely correct me if I'm wrong. Ive been looking all over for it. The only thing I can think of is using the 350 for your towing guides, with Tremor package, since mechanically they're the same truck.
In the launch event for the MY23, they discussed having strengthened the frame to increase towing capabilities. So it seems like it is an upgrade from the 2022s, rather then the 2022s being rated lower.I wonder what specifically has changed on the 2023 Tremor to constitute the increased tow capacity from the 2022's.
I suspect the 2022's were stickered lower than their actual capabilities.
Agreed, but the non-Tremor 2022's could tow (conventional) more than the Tremor 2023's can.In the launch event for the MY23, they discussed having strengthened the frame to increase towing capabilities. So it seems like it is an upgrade from the 2022s, rather then the 2022s being rated lower.
2023 FORD SUPER DUTY FRAME STRENGTHENED IN KEY AREAS
I'm not sure that's the best comparison to look at the non-Tremor vs. the Tremor.Agreed, but the non-Tremor 2022's could tow (conventional) more than the Tremor 2023's can.
2022 F350 Diesel non Tremor = up to 20,000# conventional / 21,900 Goose/5th
2023 F350 Diesel Tremor = 18,200# Conventional / 23,000 Goose/5th
I'm not sure that's the best comparison to look at the non-Tremor vs. the Tremor.
In 2022, the Tremor conventional towing was 15,000 while the conventional for an F-350 non-Tremor was as much as 20,000.. It looks like the gain for the Tremor in conventional towing went up to as much as 18,200
Hoping you can help me better understand what I'm misunderstanding / misreading when I'm looking at the 2022 vs 2023 towing guides. My point was that in 2022 the same frame could tow 20k non-Tremor & 15k Tremor so the frame shouldn't be the reason they upped it in 2023; since a 2022 frame could already tow 20k.
It has been speculated that the 2023 Tremor suspension is the same; increasing the towing capacity is leading me to believe that something is different, or they willingly/knowingly derated the 2021/2022 numbers.
