Where did you get the Rustoleum high temp primer? I can at least get the black high temp paint from Home Depot locally. Edit: looks like Lowe's may have both in stock.

Where did you buy the matte black vinyl piece for the chrome tailgate 'handle' trim?

Have you seen where they take the entire tailgate plastic area and sand off the rough surface and paint it body color? I am thinking about doing that to mine when I get it. Love the NOCO plug will def be doing that. Ceramic window tint as well. This site is going to cost me a small fortune! haha

Primer was at my local ACE hardware. The shop that did my tint threw in the vinyl piece for free.

I have not seen the tailgate sanding you talk about. I am pretty happy with it now that the one chrome piece is covered.

The plug was super easy. 2” cup saw and the screws self tapped into the plastic. I thought about going with thicker gauge screws than what it came with or even machine screws with a washer and nut on the inside but in the end, the self tappers it came with were plenty. I can’t imagine what could put enough force on that to come off.

a little electric tape and 10 min later was all set.

Right on.
I made sure to follow the “warm up/curing” recommendations… I did 2 coats of primer and 3 coats of paint and it seems to have a decent coverage.

Make sure you get coverage all around, there are some tough spots to get. Specifically the top because the fender only has about 5 or six inches of clearance to get the sprayer in there…

Do you have to cure the paint by starting the truck to get the exhaust hot in between each coat of primer and paint? Or, can you apply all the primer, then all the paint, and let it cure one time after all of the painting is done?

I did the 2 coats of primer and 3 paint then did the heating process. 10 min on idle, 20 off, 20 min on idle, 20 off and 30 min regular driving. I didn’t see any instructions specifically stating to do the heating between each layer. My thinking was they would all cure together better with all coats heated at the same time.

How long did you have to wait in between each coat of primer and paint? Thank you sir! :)
