Hey All,

Looking to get some honest feedback on the difference between the Lariat and Platinum interiors - i.e. is the Platinum that much better? The seats and leather and obviously different, the trim on the doors and dash seems nicer on the Platinum.

I ordered my '22 7.3 F250 Lariat Tremor back in July and while I'm fairly confident the Lariat is what I want, but the idea of changing to the Platinum is stuck in my head mostly due to the supposedly better interior in the Platinum.

My Lariat order noteworthy options:
- F250 7.3
- Agate Black
- Black Appearance Package
- Lariat Ultimate
- Pro Trailer Backup Assist
- 5th wheel prep
- Standard Tremor running boards (like them for door protection)
- NO adaptive cruise or adaptive steering
- Dual Battery and heated steering wheel

As Built cost before taxes: $87,959 CDN

When I build out the Platinum choosing the options I want that aren't already included in the Platinum, it comes to $90,080 CDN - so only a difference of $2,121, really not that significant in the grand scheme of things. Considering it's coming with options I wasn't getting (such as adaptive cruise, power running boards) it's kind of the better deal - but I don't care for those options and preferred the blacked out look on the Lariat.

So - is that Platinum interior that much better that it makes it worthwhile? While I wouldn't black out the Platinum as it's just too involved for me, I'd probably black out the Platinum plaque on the tailgate as I'm really not a fan of it. If anyone knows of a video review that compares the interiors closely - I'd love to see it.

I can’t help a whole lot with a side by side comparison but here are some pics of the interior of my platinum. The leather is nicer than the Lariat and the front seats are massaging. The rear seats are also very soft leather as well.

I don’t know about the lariats, but my platinum has the heated steering wheel, and it’s got nice soft plush leather as well.

Hope this helps. I can take more when I get home

Adding more pics I took today.

Back seats aren’t fully folded down FYI

Just out of curiosity you placed your order if I am reading that right, so are you considering changing your order or ordering something different? I have ordered a Plat and it was built in 32 days, being shipped as we speak. This week I ran into my old fleet salesman and told him about my order. He stated two interesting things ( I have no idea how correct any of this is ) but he said ford is holding the chips that they do receive and using them to build the top end packages in any of the offerings they have. As well he stated that next year they are adding black out to platinum packages. Found both of those statements quite interesting but as I said no real verification that any of that is correct. Anyway I looked at what you did as well and on my build the difference was similar (though I think a touch less) and so since my F150 is a KR I just had to go Platinum (to get the color I wanted). It was worth the increase in my mind.

I have the order placed, but I don't really know what the actual build or delivery will be - my dealer is still thinking the March timeline they told me when I ordered it in July (that was why I ordered it then - I want it for March). Not sure where my location in Canada fits in the priority for distribution, seems pretty low - I don't have a VIN yet, just the basic order sheet.

Interesting about the blacked out Platinum comment - it would only make sense though really. Makes me really wish I had a crystal ball for the 2023 Super Duty - although the damn things aren't getting any cheaper are they...

Thanks for the photos and feedback mystic (y)

I had a black out AB ordered in mid July and changed to CG platinum in late august. My build week is next week, so it may have slowed it down some but worth it to me. Xplan and a pco made the decision easier as far as cost. I don’t mind a little chrome on my truck and the interior is definitely an upgrade. I probably won’t black out anything but the letters on the tailgate just to break it up. Ultimately, just comes down to what you like.

I looked at all 3 Lariat, KR and Platinum. I didn't like the KR or the Platinum colors just to dark for me. I got the baja and am very happy. I also did need massage seats and some of the other stuff. I was also look at the Power Wagon but you could only get black interior so that was a no go.

I love the platinum leather seats and the different colors you can choose them in. They are very nice and have the massaging feature.
I ended up choosing a lariat. The blacked out package was the kicker for me. I love the headlights, best headlights on any vehicle IMO.
Both are great options, can’t go wrong.

I was bummed I could not get the massaging seats in the Lariat. Once you’re in the $90K space - rational spending is out the window. I paid that for my first home back in 2000. Lol.

In the end I did choose the lariat because the black package was the single greatest look on a stock truck, IMO. I paired it with Iconic Silver because it reminded me of a storm cloud. The black and silver is ominous.

If I had another trim, I didn’t want to mess around and have the truck parts painted when it just could come that way. The big chrome tailgate plaque is too cheesy for me, and that would of also had to been painted black.

The black headlights are visual sex to my eyes, and the way the LED strip pops around it with the yellow signal and park/running light is just right.

Here is the fun part - I drove an XLT Tremor 6.7 only. Never drove any other trims in Tremor. So as far as comfort - No idea.

I would choose which one you want based on your needs. If it’s an every day driver the nice soft leather seats with massaging function will be nice. But for me as I use it for a work truck. over the years I learned that soft comfortable leather bunches up and crinkles, so it is not as durable. You can see what I’m talking about in a couple of those pictures there where the leather looks like it’s getting loose the more you sit on it.

I have the Platinum and although the leather is soft, the upholstery workmanship sucks! Take a look at the photo's in one of the previous posts in this thread and in particular look at the bunching in the rear seat. Mine isn't as bad as these photo's show, but nonetheless the workmanship is poor. The leather is very thin and not tight like you would think one would get in a premium model. Previous Lariats that I've seen have more durable leather and better fit.

I agree with the statement above. When I traded in my 2017 Platinum that's one major thing I noticed was the looseness of the leather in the higher trims. Seemed like every truck I looked in it was in a different spot. All looked very odd and my 2017 was not like this. I went with the Lariat Ultimate with the black package and have not once second guessed it. Do I miss the massaging seats? Yes and no. First off, I was able to drive for all these years without them. Secondly, they skimped and only put it on the bottom unlike the new Navigators or other manufacturers.

as said above, My 2022 has bottom and back massaging seats as well

My plat has massaging seat on back & bottom.
I had a Lariat leather F-150 but my new Platinum seats I feel are much better. Everyone is different.
I think we all agree that the leather feels better. We’re just saying that if you’re using it for a work truck in and out 50 times a day. Wearing boots, hardhats, safety vest with tools on. the leather is more likely to get damaged

definitely agree. these seats are far too soft for hard to use under those conditions.

Glad to hear that added the back into it. My 17 was just the bottom and really just the rear portion of the bottom.

This is going to sound extremely petty, but this is what made the difference for me.
The Platinum has padded rear arm rests, and the Lariat has hard rear arm rests.
I can't spend 90k and have hard plastic arm rests for my passengers.
I can't.
I won't.
