Can someone with a 2022 post if they have a hood light plug present on their engine bay ?

i would like to order one.

On my 21 the wire for the light comes right out of the harness next to the passenger hood hinge. The wire is about 18" long and plugs directly into the hood light. There's a gray and a black wire. The light works via an internal gravity switch. There's punched holes in the hood near the hinge where the factory light snaps into. You should be able to just buy the light and pigtail plug and just wire directly to 12v source under the hood.

I wonder why that standard equipment was deleted.

I may throw some Rigid SR-L "Rock Light" under the hood

That is what they do esp if its the last model year before a redesign. multiply that 14 cents by 30,000
Yep, even on redesigns they pinch pennies - on my 2010 Mustang which was the 1st year of the body and interior redesign following the original S197 styling Ford decided to remove the lights from the driver and passenger vanity mirrors (GT Premium trim). They added them back in 2011. Kinda frustrating - I'd have gladly paid $0.14 extra to keep the vanity mirror lights. Same with the cup holder LEDs and hood light on the '22 Superduty

You could easily buy a small light or even oem and wire it to an upfitter..no need to get crazy with a gravity switch

I bought a magnetic light to stick on the hood when needed.....then realized when it wouldn't stick, it is Aluminum.....🤦‍♂️
You have to get the magnets for aluminum.

I bought a Harbor Freight Braun LED rechargeable under hood work light. It has hooks as well as magnets. I hang it in my yard barn (with no electric) and it acts like a shop light when not in use. Dual purpose. I carry a flashlight and headlamp in my truck for a emergency. No real need for the under hood factory light.

Posting a pic of my 2021 bc I plan to try to recreate this setup when I get my 2022.

I looked in my '22. And I do not see the wiring harness on the passenger side for the hood light.
No plug but I found these wires coming off the firewall harness closest to the fender

Let there be light!! I couldn't find a factory plug on my '22 and didn't want to hack into any wiring, I've had this installed for just over a year with no issues and it lights up the entire engine bay. Minor drawback is the light does not have a timeout. A couple things I would do different. I would have bought some black led strips instead of using the light strip I had on hand. I also would have installed a waterproof on/off switch (planning on doing that) to break the light circuit so when I have the hood open half the day while doing maintenance, cleaning or whatever I won't have to remember to unplug the spade connector from the switch. I have forgotten a couple of times with no issue (running battery down). I mean it's only a couple of light strips drawing about 2.5 amps total.
