Glad I ordered a King Ranch then, built in Texas, so I've heard. Seems only the Kansas City plant being suspended till stockpiles build up again.

What does this mean for a dealer order that has been accepted and scheduled for production later this month?
They will build it without chips, then your truck gets an all expenses paid trip to the KMS SD spa, where it will sit until the chips come in.

They will get scheduled and built chips or no chips. Mine was built 4-20...didn't get here till 7-30.
I’ll be interested to see if manufacturers continue to use the build and store method at the race track as they did for your truck (2021?).

Seems like that’s more of a pain and does not help the revenue - yet the costs are there.

This story and pics are from August 1st...doubt anything has changed. They are still paying 2k and acre for storage might as well use it.

You taking delivery if the 21 or rolling the dice on a 22?
LOL.

That is the question, isn't it?
The damned '21 will likely show up next week.

If the chip shortage had been resolved, I would have waited for the '22. Ugly as it is, that 12 inch display is of significantly higher quality and the PWM frequency is apparently much higher as well - which matters to me. But now that I've seen the articles, now that it has been verified that purgatory is an enduring condition...

I just don't think I can make knowingly make that choice again.

What’s PWM frequency?

From what I’ve heard from my Dealer friend, Ford is trying to work with dealers to ship the new vehicles to dealers lots minus the chips, then the vehicles will be stored there until the chips are installed. Then the buyers can take delivery of their new trucks.
Dealers will NOT be able to sell/deliver or even let the buyers take the vehicles for a test drive prior to the vehicle having the chips installed. Ford will send training personnel to each dealership to train the techs on how to install the chips prior to the PDI process. Also, Ford will waive all Flooring costs associated with the “storage” until the chips are installed and the service claim is submitted for reimbursement of the chip installation.
There are a few benefits to dealers. The ordered/sold units will be on the lot and the buyers can come look at their new vehicle and see that it really exists. Plus, the dealers can pre-sell any Stock units that are on their lot. And third, the now sad looking vacant Dealer lots will have plenty of inventory for potential buyers to pick from with on,y the Chip install holding up the new vehicle delivery.
Sure, some buyers will be anxious to take delivery once they can actually see/touch their new vehicle, but can’t until it is signed off as a complete vehicle. Patience will be tested, for sure.
But if I was in that situation, I’d much rather have my ordered vehicle at the dealership instead of sitting in some field along with thousands of other ones, and who knows how long it will take to actually arrive at the dealership after the chips have been installed. Weeks? Months?
