I didn’t realize the RT was that much smaller than the MT. I know everyone has different actual sizes for a 37 but that’s a big difference even with a worn RT. I may go to the 38s since they are both 13.5 wide anyhow.
The Nitto Trail Grapplers can not hold up to the weight of a loaded Super Duty. I need an aggressive tread but want more than 30k from tires that run $500+ each. I like the RT trail but they won’t be available in 37x12.5xR18 for a while. I have regular RTs on my Black Series but want a more...
I have seen enough mixed reviews on the Ridge Grapplers to make me leery of them. I have run 6 sets of Trail Grapplers on Raptors prior to this set on the Tremor. They are truly superior off-road tires but not good for a heavy truck. I have a set of Open Country RTs on order for my caravan...
Valid points, I get the wear and tear but I live in Utah and spend a lot of time beating on my suspension already. Plus, I have upgraded most of the suspension with Carli components. I am probably already at 125# on the 37” Trail Grapplers and Method HDs.
Ok then, looking for an MT that will get more life than 20k miles. I like the way the Trail Grappler handles off-road but at $2k a set, I refuse to be buying new ones every 4 months.
So, tell me why weight is important, I average 10 mpg currently, Torque is not an issue. I could see the weight reduction if it’s a commuter to save on gas but I am looking for something that will get me through the rough and would think heavier would equate to tire thickness and more sidewall...
Toyo RTs are on the poll, I didn’t include the Falken WP because I didn’t see a tire between the AT and MT, if you think there’s one I didn’t list, check other and tell me why. I asked what would be the best tire that leans more towards an MT than an AT (aggressive hybrid). Also need a tire that...
Sorry I meant for the Nitto offering to be Ridge Grapplers since I didn’t have good mileage from the Trail Grappler. Not sure how to remove TGs from the poll.
I decided to go with Nitto Trail Grapplers in 37x12.5x18 and Method 305HD wheels on my 2021 F350 6.7L Lariat Sport. I have been running Trail Grapplers for years and always got great mileage (60-80k+) out of them but never really had a heavy load on them. After 16k miles (mostly near max payload...
My main takeaway from this article is the driver “determines its recommended tire pressure based on the worst vehicle load.” On the Toyo tire @MagicTruck is running, at 80 psi it is rated for 3970 lbs PER TIRE, that’s twice the load he’s carrying and more than 1000 pounds over the rear GAWR (65...
My payload is 3264 lbs on my Lariat Sport 6.7L, rear GAWR is the same as yours. I have 600 lbs left with gear in the bed, passengers and crap in the cab plus trailer tongue weight. Scale ticket equals a payload of 2600 lbs but rear axle weighs in at 6700 lbs.
Payload and Rear GAWR are the real numbers. Towing capacity is pointless if you exceed one of the other two. I pull a 9000 lb caravan that’s designed to be well over 20% tongue weight in order to make it more stable off-road. With a loaded trailer full of gear and water, I am pushing 2200 lb...
So I was out in the pasture today picking up hay when I hit a minor dip and heard a loud pop. I looked under the front to find this.
The Fox ATS bolt had sheared off at the stock frame bracket. I also noticed this.
The sway bar had shifted over an inch towards the driver’s side.
I am running...
